Is it worth plot resetting without preparing your town for it? I haven't put any public work projects up yet to block the spots that villagers like to plot (yet I don't want them to move here). I've been trying to plot reset for Boone for a few hours now, and it seems he stubbornly keeps wanting to cycle through about three different locations that I really don't want his house to be in. I should have prepared better, but what's done is done. Has anyone been in a situation like this? Have I messed up, or will persistence pay off?

Persistence will pay off, however there are still a few things you can do to help prevent a long plot reset process.
You can TT back to (at least a minute after) the last time you played the day before (or to play it safe go back to 5AM on plot resetting day)
You can set up a PWP on the spot they keep plotting on, and you can even set up 2 other player houses (if you haven't already) in those spots to help steer them in the right direction.

Just keep plot resetting, and hopefully you'll get it where you want!

Good luck!

thank you very much! It's good to know that I'll eventually find success with this. I'll keep working at it!

No problem!

Also take note the acre mechanic:

http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?310996-The-precision-of-villager-plot-resetting

in short: if there is a few other buildings close to the one you are trying to plot, you might not get it exactly where you want, regardless of how many time you reset.

I had to learn this the hard way myself too.
hopefully you have a spot for them that's not too cramped, otherwise it may not land there at all due to acre density restricitons.

Another tip on some other threads on the boards is to close out your game, then turn your entire system off every approximately 6 resets to reboot the randomness of where they will plot.

It works for me when they are being stubborn! Good luck!

I plot reset first and then plan my town after. That being said it took me hours to plot reset Marina, Marshal, and Octavian. (Especially Marshal, he kept on plotting in the most annoying spot.) It got easier after using PWPs to block off areas and when other residents moved in ideal areas.

Oh wow, I wish I knew this before spending hours resetting. Good to know!
