a boeing 747 crashed this morning at Shciphol airport, it was a plane of the Turkish Airways,
at least 9 people died and over 80 are (severely) injured .. Our prime minister & queen have responded shocked of how this could happen on Dutch soil etc. and paid their respects to the people who got affected by the crash

i was wondering: have you heard of this happening?

I haven't heard about it, but that's terrible.
That's boosted my fear of planes up another level, |:
R.I.P

this morning the Turkish minister of foreign affaires (sorry i had the term wrong or misspelled it) said that there were 30 injured and no casualties, but later today it was confirmed that 9 were killed in the crash, 3 of them were employees

Owh right; the pilot made sure that they crashed on an agricultural field instead of the highway also the plane only crashed and didn't blew up ..

on the news they were even comparing it to the bijlmer disaster; El Al plane crashed into a appartmentcomplex in Amsterdam in october 1992 (a while back but we don't have that many planecrashes here. Schiphol is considered one of the safest airports in the world. The queen stated that she shows her deepest sympathy to the relatives of the casualties & everyone who it had affected & our prime minister was talking about how well the medical care was, because there were 10 ambulances at the scene even before it had hit the ground

hmmmm :(

kinda wierd, since i was on a plane today, glad i didnt read this before i got on the plane would of made me worry XD anyways i got back in England a few hours ago....meaning im safe :D

It may sound mean, but I'm really not particularly bothered in what happens that isn't where I live.

it does sound mean, because it is ..
i know people who had family/friends in that plane;
It happend like 30km from here, if the engines quit some minutes earlier it would've landed on the middle of Rotterdam >_< or if it had crashed 20 meters further it would've crashed on a highway in traffic congestion, then it would've exploded & much more people would've gotten killed .. and I think it's just harsh to say you don't care about the victims nor their families...

Every life taken by an accident is one too many, if you don't share that opinion you're just messed up :r

I just find it hard to care about what happens X amount of miles away, don't shoot me.
so you don't care what happens in the world as long as it doesn't affects you?
so when the WTC collapsed you were all like; yeah not in the uk?
or the 11 march '04 the madrid train bombings; I don't care, aslong as it isn't me!

so; i think you're weird

I care about all the big things, like bombings etc, but in all fairness, a plane crash that isn't the worst ever one isn't exactly attention grabbing for me.

Is it just me or are planes falling a lot more nowadays? we have had a few in america already..

Whats going on? Pilots getting lazy ? or are birds really crashing into the engines?

yeah i have been thinking the same thing chubsterr, there have been so many plane crashes lately. In the US we just had one and the pilot had to fly the plane into the hudson river (A big river in New York City) because geese flew through the engines making them both stop working. Thankfully, everyone survived because the plan landed at the right angle and speed. I am pretty sure it was the first plane crash in the water that everyone survived!

Too many uneducated people. Because of rising transportation prices! Because of rising oil costs! Because of oil companies charging too high! They want to bring down the man. HIPPIES!

Jk. Just too many unexperienced pilots that panic at the 1st sight of a problem.
