Placing items on stools?

I suppose it depends what look you are trying to achieve.

I use the stone stool and log stool as display bases for fossils/models etc, and I think they work perfectly for that role.

I would not use a chair as display base however as it would look strange.
However I may place a magazine or book on a chair in my house as that would look like a natural placement :)

I love the stools for item placement. I've also used log benches as "tables" for displaying items. However, be warned you cannot display tools on stools. I had a temple set up and when I tried to place the golden wand it didn't work, so I had to switch to wooden mini tables.

I mean they can be neat item holders. It gives a bit more customization options too if you just want a small 1x1 item that won't take up too much space. In my market place I put some items on stools like wallpaper, flower petals, books

I put plants and other knick knacks on stools in real life so it's not weird to me. I thought this was common?

I like it because it means some of the stools can be used as like low end tables or pedestals for stuff and a lot of them work for that purpose. For instance I have stone stools outside my museum with amber sitting on them, very nice

I guess I didn't realize it was a common trend,, And I just remembered I did place a candle on a log stool because I couldn't find a table-

Apparently not, because I've never put stuff on stools irl lol. I've always seen/used them exclusively as chairs. But now that NH has introduced that concept to me, I think it's quite a resourceful way to use furniture! Might consider doing that when I get older and get a place of my own lol

I use stools as mini tables so definitely not weird to me. I use them all the time to place stacks or books or candles :3

I find it weirder how you can place items on cushions lol

OOOH I was not aware you could place stuff on more than just the stools?? :0 That's amazing! I love all the designs options it gives! Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a new thing from this opus too? One thing's sure, I loved it when I discovered it :D

But can you really place stuff on everything you can sit on? Like, all the chairs/benches/etc.? If yes,,, 🥺 🥺 🥺

I mean the table/surface choices are really limited in NH, so there aren’t many other options.

Personally, I think the log and stone stools work just fine. Once you get over it being called a “stool”, it isn’t visually any different from a mini table or nightstand. Nothing weird about it imo.

No, I don’t think it’s weird to place stuff on stools because most of them look like small tables. I probably wouldn’t place things on the upholstered ones though unless it was just the perfect choice.

Edit: also, why do so many people sound afraid of being “weird”?

Not really, that's something we do in our household anyway. Usually it's small but wide plants or just something decorative.

You dare assume a cat girl like myself is afraid of being "weird"? My boyfriend calls me strange all the time and thinks my strangeness is cute-

I dont think its weird at all?? i know for a fact many people place items on stools in real life, it just makes the feature in the game more life like?!

honestly, because of the lack of actual tables in NH, it seems NECESSARY to have the stools function as tables lolllll.

I don’t have any decent 1x1 tables, so when I was redoing my bedroom and needed some nightstands, I went with... piano benches. I definitely place things on chairs in real life, but it’s more for temporary storage than anything else.
