Place your random thoughts.

Like in 2002, I’ve been collecting Bionicles this year. However, here’s what’s different about getting them today than they were back then:
  • The least surprising difference is that they’re more expensive now. Given that they were used sets from a long-discontinued Lego franchise, buying them now would cost a lot more money, and I’ll have to get them from another person rather than an official store.
  • On the topic of pricing, sets that were equal to each other a long time ago are unevenly priced today. I can’t tell you how much I spent on these, but one example is that a Tahu set (one of the Toa) will always cost more than an Onua set (another Toa), given that they’re from the same store.
  • Another thing that’s different to today is that when I buy a used set, they don’t come with a box (or canister in case of the Toa) or instructions, unless you choose to buy a set that specified that a box and instructions are present. But I don’t need a box or instructions anyway (unless if I’m building the bigger sets).
  • While pricing and scarcity are the reasons why they’re more difficult to get now, they’re also easier to obtain or complete now than before. For example, the McDonald’s toys could only be obtained by Happy Meals (which each Happy Meal toy is limited edition). But if I can get a used one from BrickLink, I don’t need to go out to eat or worry about missing out.
  • Going into the McDonald’s subject, BrickLink also sells parts, not just full sets. For this reason, not only can I get the Matoran sets that McDonald’s provided, but I can also have additional Matoran based on the McDonald’s toys that were never sold back then.
  • Another thing that’s gotten easier to complete collection is masks. If you don’t mind spending on used Legos to complete your Bionicle mask collection, the thing here is that you’ll know which ones you’re getting, so you don’t have to worry about getting duplicates. You can also get the limited-time promotional masks and McDonald’s toy masks this way. Back in 2001-2003, if you’re interested into completing a mask collection, you’ll have to buy blind boxes, and each blind box contains two masks.

When I was in high school, my friend told me there was a scene in Top Gun where Tom Cruise cracks an egg on a woman’s stomach and it fries. I saw the actual movie…no such scene. No idea what she saw, but it sure wasn’t that!

My journal posts has not earned me tbt for three days in a row. Also, a link and the words it was attached to keeps disappearing from my table of contents page.

Scientology makes people think strange things

Edit: not saying your friend is a scientologist. Or anyone else.

I should have said, in Sheldon Cooper's voice, "that's hilarious! A human body would have to be at least 270 degrees, at which point they would be dead while frying an egg on their stomach"

Sounds about right. I am a Batman geek, so I had to ask! I have too much Batman merch in my house, including a 1000 peice jigsaw puzzle I am about to start.
I'm looking on ebay, and I actually can't find one like it.

Mine has a more rounded bottom and isn't as busy.

One of my uncles is a priest, and during his time in the Vatican, he met Pope Benedict XVI. I wish he got to meet Francis, but oh well...still an interesting story to me.

Charlie Sheen fried an egg on a woman's stomach(along with a couple of strips of bacon) in the movie Hot Shots! It was a parody of mainly Top Gun but they poked fun at some other movies as well.

yesterday i got a random text message from a phone number that’s my exact number but one digit off. it said “did you know that koalas can sleep for up to 22 hours a day?” creepy.

walmarts really have everything now; a subway, a nail salon, a hairdresser, a bank, and an eye doctor.
I use to wonder if they would like increase more and be considered a mall or basically replace malls but have a mall vibe, but I haven't seen a Walmart with more than that.
Big stores like Walmart kinda killed malls impo. It's purpose was a one stop shop for the most part. I wonder how long Walmart will stay around. Online shopping is pretty popular, and older folks, who are less likely to order online, are becoming less numerous.

The Spinner from Twilight Princess.....

Highly underutilized. I think it's a really cool and fun weapon. I wish there were more puzzles that require it, other than the ones in Arbiter's Grounds, the boss fight against Stallord and a couple of random places in Hyrule Field.

Also, plump hot dog wieners suck imo if they're not long and skinny, I don't want them 😤

Welp, the radio is super unreliable today for notifications.
I guess I'll just have things sit in a safe place for the entire night because warnings are slow today. I do use to radar websites on top of it, but sometimes they get a little behind.
The storm passed me, but it left some big balls of hail! There’s been some damage nearby, but I’m lucky the storm came when it did…a school was having a field day today.

Hopefully it’s not too bad for you!

Im ok for now. A huge cell is coming. It is gonna be a long night like that night last month. This other cell that hit a few minutes ago, didn't have a warning until it was on top of us. The trees were bent over and foliage was flying everywhere. Maybe it sped up or something, but it definitely didn't look good.
I am glad you are ok. Hopefully the hail didn't damage your stuff. One year we got golf ball sized hail and had to replace some stuff because of it.
Basements are handy sometimes, unfortunately I don't have one. Many homes don't. If I did, I'd store extra kennels there and have a bed there with a few supplies and important stuff so we don't have to lose sleep and watch stuff as closely. And, we'd have to move less stuff on days like today.

Decided to add a couple of neat pics
