I’m watching Jerry Springer’s “Baggage” and a guy said that the woman being transgender would be a dealbreaker while adding an insensitive comment, but was okay if she had spent 18 months in prison because ‘things happen.’

I feel like he’s just brushing off his transphobia. I understand having preferences when you’re dating but the comment about ‘if you are born a boy, you will always be a boy no matter what you do’ was absolutely not necessary.
Jerry Springer…the guy who had trans women beat each other up on his talk show, being transphobic? Color me surprised.
He also used the t-slur on there, I think. I didn’t know he hosted a dating show, BUT yeah, he should have called that contestant out for being rude. Just say someone’s not your type and move on.

This kind of reminds me of when I was watching Judge Steve Harvey and he called a guy gay for liking sushi. (?) Straight people love sushi lol. What was that argument?!

Sushi is amazing. Also, I'm hungry right now.. and need to go find something to eat.
I've never been a fan of Jerry Springer. I've seen bits and pieces of it growing up because my dad liked it and watched it often. Even recorded some of it. I always just ended up leaving the room when he had it on. Wasn't a big fan of Steve Harvey either, though sometimes he said something funny... But I also remember him being kinda creepy too. I usually just left the room when he was on as well. 🤷

Steve Harvey used to be funny to me, and I used to watch Steve Harvey Show when that was a thing. When I was in Chicago, I wanted to be in the audience…just so I could see myself on TV. 😂

On Family Feud, someone will give an answer, and he’ll make a face like it’s the dumbest thing he’s ever heard and then do a comedy bit about it. I get he’s a comedian, but it gets old after a while.

Also, I haven’t forgotten the whole Miss Universe debacle. I still kinda feel bad for Miss Colombia.

I used to come home from school and watch Dr. Phil lol. Crazy times.
My mom used to watch Dr. Phil for a while and I did at first and then decided meh. She continued on for a bit and then stopped for some reason I do not know.
My mom also use to watch Opera daily for a super long time. She LOVED Oprah. Huge fan. I'm not sure why she stopped watching.

I used to watch the one that brought a 'psychic' (I'm saying this now, but I used to believe it as a teen) on to their show every now and then. I forgot who though. lol 😭

What would a Texas-themed entail? What would some of the tasks be?
Some of the tasks are the same as the other events. One of the activities is “oil drilling”, which is the typical dusting event where you post and react to earn dust (or in this case, oil). Another would be “mission comtrol” (an activity similar to Count Inside the Bottle, but rather by guessing the time of the day).

yes i agree, I'm never able to finish a book I'm still only halfway through war of the worlds and even less of the way through to kill a mockingbird
I feel like if you're reading that many in a year you probably aren't appreciating the book or taking the time to understand the themes or whatever. That's like fast-food level consumption considering there's 52 weeks in a year. So pretty much a book a week.

I asked my dad how to shave your legs and he and my uncle said that you’re not supposed to shave your legs if you’re a guy. So then I asked my mom and she and my aunts and that same uncle also said so. I get that Nigeria has different customs, which is why they said that, but that’s so dumb. My uncle also said that if you do that, your hairs will grow back but thicker, which… literally isn’t true. I don’t get it. What is wrong with a man having smooth legs? That sounds so much more comfortable.

Rule of thumb HR is not there to help you but the company. So just keep that in mind.
yeah I'm not gonna lie I've felt targeted by HR multiple times at my job. I'm actually worried that I'm gonna get fired for some stupid reason someday, because they seem to want to come up w excuses to get me in trouble. I hate the HR manager at my job lol.

If they're treating you like straight garbage and you personally feel that you're trying your best to be a decent employee, quit. They are not worth your time. There are many other places out there that can treat you so much better. Unfortunately however, once higher-ups in general get to know your work habits and ethic, they may try their best to pile more tasks onto you because that's how the process usually works. I'm going through the same thing with my job as well, though I haven't quit because my boss at least realizes that I occasionally go through rough periods. If there's little to no such thing at your place, then I would start seeking other jobs. Do what's best for you. Not for them.

well thankfully my supervisor is very kind and understanding, she has stuck up for me in times when the HR manager seemed to want to take drastic actions for issues that weren't even a big deal. I wish I could just find another job, but there aren't any other libraries around that are hiring part-time, and entering a new work environment with people I don't know could go even worse than how it's currently going. ideally I could find a job at one of the larger library systems in Ohio, but I'm already traveling 38 minutes both ways to get to and from work, and it'd be an even longer commute if I did that. and I'd be screwed if I quit because I now have to worry about making a monthly car payment on top of my other bills. I'm just staying put for now but it's a pretty nasty situation at work. I'm hoping to talk to my supervisor more about it soon.

I do appreciate your concern though 🫂 and you're right, I need to do what's best for me. to a company I might just be a number, disposable perhaps.

Understandable. At least there's someone there that actually cares about you, and I totally get the "meeting new people" aspect which personally makes me nervous too. Hopefully something can be worked out between you and your supervisor.

I've been recommended a young adult program near me that basically does fun stuff every week in the evening such as outdoorsy stuff, restaurant visits, games and so on. I'm in sort of a desperate situation to make new friends around my age, so I think this could be a ticket to achieving that. The problem is getting myself out of my comfort zone. I always have a hard time with that.

I don't think this is what you are talking about, but your comment reminded me that psychic commercials were a thing on tv when I was a kid. You could call in for a reading and the commerical was ran similarly to an infomercial.
I also forgot about the animatronic fortune lady arcade machines. The Walmart we went to in the early 90s had one.. I think they were more of an 80s thing.

Omg, I forgot got about the Miss. Cleo stuff. I use to see those commercials on TV often.
