I might as well make a spin-off thread of random thoughts regarding video games and video game tidbits.

To start this off:

Tom Nook, Kapp'n, and Redd are the only characters in Animal Crossing whose origin is based on Japanese Mythology especially the Yokai. Tom Nook is based on the Tanuki which is a raccoon dog found in Japan and the mythical creature, Bake-danuki. Kapp'n is based on a Kappa especially when his design resembles the mythical Kappa more than the turtle. And Redd is based on the Kitsune which is a yokai fox in Japanese mythology.

Getting back into rhythm games has been fun. I was kind of rusty with them for an hour or two, but now I’m back to where I was skill wise. I’m decent at them, but not amazing though.

me: hmm I'm gonna practice playing fnf on Roblox *goes to practice*
also me: *cant do the fast songs* I'm gonna try Carefree from VS QT...
also also me: *almost FCs it* okay why am I good at this song, but not Epiphany or Triple Trouble-

Makoto in Persona 5 rubs me the wrong way. I used to like her when I first started playing but each playthrough that I did, I liked her less and less, it is hard for me to like her. Some things she does reminds me a bit of things that happened with some people I used to be friends with too; that isn’t why I don’t really like her, but it doesn’t help either.

Makoto is really insensitive to Futaba’s feelings.
Like she kept talking about a subject that had been tormenting Futaba for years and asking her questions, not to mention that Futaba was a shut in and had social anxiety, and she says “she’s quite difficult.”

I know she doesn’t mean to be insensitive and rude but it kinda frustrates me to see even though I can understand and relate in some way. I wish the protagonist and the others could point it out to her and through the story she adjusts and learns. I want to say I like her overall, but when I try to think of things I like about her, I can’t think of anything aside from small things like maybe her design and using her in battle.

My favorite Indie game character - the girl with the top hat, otherwise known as Hat Kid.

Though I would like to see a multiverse crossover of all the famous Indie games.

although Persona 2 would benefit from a remake, i do not think it would fit the style of the modern Persona games. i believe it would be impossible to adapt it to modern standards without sacrificing other aspects. even to add a social link system, the calendar system needs to be implemented, which in return will remove quite a few unique elements from the game. without those qualities, i can only imagine people would be put off by the lack of features in comparison to P5R or P3:RE. I do not think modern visuals would fit the game either. a PS2 era Persona 2 remake would've been perfect, but we are long past that era now. It is either a modern remake or it remains as one of the most frustrating Atlus games of all time. is it bad i cannot decide which i prefer?

I don’t think a bad Kirby game exists. Also, Kirby and the Forgotten Land may look like a baby game…but it was definitely tough! (Still beat it though.)

It’s weird because people Nintendo games are made to be “easy”, but I’m still stuck on BOTW. On the other hand, I’ve beaten both Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow (Still need to figure out HoD), which are Konami games.

Even though it is time to move on from Persona 5, I’m not ready lol. I love the game so much. I got persona 3 and 4 on the ps4 but I never touched them because I kept wanting to play persona 5 and I still do. I might look at getting it for the switch later and trying it then though; right now it looks like I’ll be playing and replaying p5r a lot again though lol.

What i’d like:

I still kinda wish we could have picked to be a female protagonist. I love the protagonist as he is but since I like replaying the game, I’d love it if we could play as a female too. It makes me wonder how different the story would be or the dialogue with a female would be, and the romance options.

For a spin off, alternate Persona 5 where you work with Akechi instead. If I was a better writer and had more solid ideas, I’d try my hand at writing a fan fiction.

There’s definitely mediocre ones. I think Kirby Squeak Squad is one of the blandest Nintendo platformers I’ve ever played, and that’s coming from someone who actually likes New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario 3D Land probably just nostalgia tbh

Also I think Star Allies kind of sucks, but it’s a 5/10 at worst. I wouldn’t say any of the main series games are worse than a 5/10.

Anyway, there’s this one achievement in Sonic Generations where you have to beat the final boss without taking damage. Easily the worst achievement in the game. The final boss is terrible on its own, but then you consider the fact that you’re using Super Sonic so it’s hard to even tell when you’re taking damage. And then there’s the fact that no one shuts up in the battle. I just muted the voice volume, which actually made it slightly more tolerable. There’s another achievement for doing that but in Shadow Generations, but at least that final boss is actually good and it’s easy to tell when you’re taking damage. This was soul draining and holy crap was it not worth it. Like… what sadist came up with this? Why?

I wish I could skip the celebrations and the hawaii trip in Persona 5; at the same time, I do think these scenes help add depth to the story. It’s funny we have the choice to say that we want to save the money like for the celebrations but ryuji is like take a hint and then you have to go. I rather spend the time raising my stats, hanging out with confidants and the usual. The Hawaii trip and the part that comes after is one of my least favorite parts in the game. Ryuji is such a jerk sometimes. Honestly though, I think he is less insensitive than Makoto was to like Futaba. Each character has their moments of being insensitive and rude like especially in the part coming up, but none bothered me as much as Ryuji and Makoto. Ryuji has grown on me even though he makes me so mad or annoyed often.

i wish the iaps in sky weren't so expensive. i get having to make money and all, but the fact that they increased their prices by so much make me wanna scream. i'm glad that the game is enjoyable without having to buy iaps, but when i do come across a really cute item, i hate that i have to really think about whether or not i want it.

despite Star Allies' same old gameplay. It had brought the biggest bombshell of a lore and it hints at Kirby's origin since we haven't touched upon Kirby's backstory in the games (The Kirby anime is ambiguously canon or non-canon regarding game adaptations).

The pause screen description and the true arena just hides the biggest parts of Kirby lore and that's why I love Kirby games in general.

Void is basically the origin point of all final bosses that Kirby has encountered all throughout the games and Kirby is just a positive form of Void similar to how Gooey is somewhat a positive version of Dark Matter or Elfilin from Forgotten Land is considered a positive version of Fecto Elfilis/ Fecto Forgo.

I finally understand why people want Half-Life 3 so badly. I'm hooked on the first game and enjoy every second of it. I heard the second game is even better, and I can't wait to try it. This series is so beloved and popular even to this day. I don't know why Valve is against giving it any proper ending.

A random thought I had when I was playing Stardew Valley: What if the mines had a random chance of not dropping a ladder? It'd make descending to the bottom more challenging, but I don't know if it'd be a good thing or not. It'd be especially infuriating in Skull Caverns, though most SDV players I know have staircases to use anyway.

I don’t like the way I have to navigate through Natlan in Genshin. It is certainly interesting, but I don’t really care for it. I’d prefer it to be simple: gimme a flying and ground mount. no weird mechanics or anything.
