Have you ever used pitfall seeds? I personally haven't. I see them for sale at Nook's Cranny, and I am curious what you have done with them, or what they are even used for?

I think people generally use them to trick villagers they don’t like. I did that in New leaf but I’ve not used them in New horizons.

Not as much as I did in NewLeaf. You can also fall in a hole without the item. Dig a hole in a way that you can still sit on something and then hop off into the hole. It was fun to just be silly with my friends.

Pitfall seeds.. I don't like to talk about them.

When I started playing the game I had about 20-25 friends who wanted to play with me on my island, and I pranked them so much (pitfall seeds, standing in front of their chair, etc) that now I have 0 people who wanna come to my island.

So, if you want some advice, don't overly use them.

I only have wild world and new leaf, but I use them all the time when I play to troll my villagers (and my sister lol, but she's cool with it). As basically everyone has said, they're used to prank villagers or friends, or yourself. You just bury them in the ground and if someone walks over that spot, they get stuck in the ground and struggle for a while.

I remember back I first played new leaf, I really hated this one villager, so I would dig tunnels of holes and line the exit up with pitfall seed after pitfall seed so that they would have to fall into every one of them to escape (added bonus of hitting them with my net the whole time) (I was so cruel, I swear I don't that anymore lol)

Suuuure you don't :p
Shhh don't go revealing my Plans, Victoria might hear you 🤫
For NH I also lined up the airport with beds. So my cousin had to get in the bed and keep rolling until the end. And I put a pitfall at the end
Lol! I used to do this all the time in Happy Home Designer (one of the highlights of that game) minus the pitfall seed. The only problem was if someone climbed into the bed after you, you got stuck until they decided to have mercy and leave 😭💀

I did buy a DIY recipe for a pitfall seed at Nookling's (I swear I couldn't prior to the 3.0 update), so I can get the Nook Miles for burying one, and the Nook Miles for falling in one.

Once or twice to get the Nook Mile accomplishment. I mainly used Pitfall Seeds in NL to punish the Villagers who moved in unwanted and refused to leave. Some of them got the message and moved out within two weeks.

Every once in a while I'd end up falling into one in NL (normally I'd see it and dig it up first) and didn't enjoy the experience so it's not something I'd ever do to anyone else. I was glad to see the daily pitfall wasn't a thing in NH but I'll of course have to mess with it for the Nook Miles.

I used them for a treasure hunt. All invited knew there were traps or treasures digged in a specific area of the island prepared for this game. This was long ago when my friends were playing too

In NL I loved them. Especially the black one. I remember the amazing pitfall mazes that I constructed for the unwanted villagers that refused to go. It was funny seeing them get angry and fall into pitfall after pitfall. In NH they are fine. I used them again mostly for villagers that I didn't like before booting them off the island. Crafting them is a chore but they serve the same purpose and its a way to use the weeds.

I do have to agree. I haven't crafted that many at all. It was nice when they were a thing you came across in your town that you could dig up or find in lost and found. Now that I have to actively and consciously have the materials on hand to craft them, I'm less inclined to bother.

I have the DIY. I think I did craft it once but never used it. I kinda forgot it existed after that.

I used them a lot in New Leaf, mostly to prank friends. Used some at the launch of NH since everyone played then, also mostly to prank friends.

But now I'm old and I have no friends who play the game online, so there's not a lot of point.
