So, I just found one of my old school English projects from Year 6 (5th Grade) and... okay. This is the word file, copied and pasted.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is one of many Animal Crossing games: it was released November 8, 2012 in Japan. So far, this is the most recent release offering many new features compared to the older installments. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a life simulation game, where you design your life to be however you want it to be! In Japan, the game title is pronounced ?Dobutsu no Mori.?

New and Returning Features
This release opens up a wide range of things to do in the game. You own a house: in it, you can decorate with furniture, wallpaper, flooring - just about anything you can imagine! With no objective, you live life as you please: communicating with villagers; visiting friends; and more! To make money, you can catch exotic fish and extraordinary bugs! Also, you can dig up ancient fossils from the past.

Main Street
Do you like shopping? Then you?ll love every little bit of Main Street! Main Street is the game?s main shopping district, offering a wide range of shops where you?ll find yourself making compelling purchases. There are many shops, but you?ll find yourself in two particular shops the most. One of them is the convenience store, run by two small raccoons named Timmy and Tommy. They sell furniture, flooring, wallpaper, stationary, tools and more. They offer a catalog where you can procure anything you have acquired in the past. The other most important store on Main Street is Able Sisters, the clothes store. They sell numerous clothes to match the season. These chirpy hedgehogs will even let you design your own clothing! How awesome is that? Their names are Mabel, Sable and Labelle. Sable works at the sewing machine and Mabel greets people and shows them around the store. However, Labelle works in the accessories store next door.

The Island
Making a reappearance, The Island is a nice place to visit when you want to take a break from your own town. The Island offers many great things to do: purchase exclusive Island items from the gift shop; catch rare bugs and fish that you would never find in your own town; go on tours to earn neat medals. Medals are the currency that The Island accept: your own currency (Bells) are no longer any use to you while you?re on The Island. In your town, you will find one fruit that is on all of your fruit trees. The fruit on The Island is different. Using this fruit, you can plant more trees, or sell it at the convenience store.

Villagers
Villagers are now a lot more interactive in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. In this release, there are new characters, but also new hamster and deer species. Villagers now plant flowers to help the environment, shake trees and more. In your town, you can have up to ten villagers: aside from the three hundred and thirteen different possibilities.

Collectibles
During the year, seventy two different bugs and fish are obtainable. Aside from the other games, new fruits have been introduced: lemons, bananas, mangoes, persimmons, durians and lychees.

What you have just read is a very basic summary of the Nintendo 3DS video game, Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Imagine yourself in a world filled with flowers, trees and life. That?s Animal Crossing: an extraordinary game that asks you to stop and smell the roses. This game is targeted at children, so if you enjoy playing first person shooters, this game is not for you.

I wrote that entirely from memory in Year 6! Obsessed? Agreed!

that's not a bad school report really. It's really well written for a 5th grader and it covers all the main aspects. I used to incorporate my hobbies into my school projects as well!

That's so incredibly cute! I used to write an Animal Crossing diary when I was thirteen but I only kept them on a forum that crashed and had to be reset so I don't have them any more. I remember they were really detailed and cute, I would do anything to read them.

Thanks! And yeah, it made things alot easier when I wrote about my hobbies. :)

Aww  You were very concise for a fifth-grader.

Slightly off-topic, but I remember reading an article once that said people who played video games turned out to be better writers, I wonder if I can find it now.

Is that true? I got the English award at my school's end of year Award Ceremony, and whenever I'm not studying, I'm playing video games! Maybe the article is true after all?

When I was in Year 6, I had to write about wolves. I wrote about Wolfgang, Whitney, and Fang.Got a fairly high level for it, too.

Haha, this reminds me of when I had an account on ACC and I wrote this seriously longggg fan fic about some AC villagers going to summer camp and some of them getting murdered. I wrote literally chapters on this thing and even planned a finale (hint hint:It was Nook) before the mods removed it... good times.

o_O I'm midway through writing my Summer Festival Entry on murder at a Summer Camp. Spooky!

If it means anything, I'm an English major and I consider myself a fairly good writer. You're writing just about as well as I did back in 5th and I can only assume you've improved~

You have talent. Nurture it. The reason gamers tend to be better writers is because

-Video games often use storylines that are a bit more unorthodox compared to books
-Video games stimulate the imagination
-Video games offer a visual aid to the writing, which helps writers see the reactions and consequences of the story laid out for them.
-Video games help show people what they like and dislike in characters. They show them how to character build and create real people, rather than simple stereotypes.
-Video games often have alternate/branching paths, unfinished endings, unexplored side plots and characters, and general mystery. This helps bring about discussion, which results in theories and, more importantly, fan fiction. Fan Fiction is not simply a vice for people to explore pairings or just write something stupid without meaning. Fan Fiction is a way for budding writers to explore the possibilities of the world before them, the characters they're given, and their own creativity. Because of sites like fanfiction.net, where writers can be reviewed, sometimes they can receive critique that helps further their tech~

There are many more reasons but those are just some I could think of. I've played video games all my life and they're wonderful for helping you learn to build worlds, people, and storylines, as well as figuring out what you do and do not like. They're a truly wonderful thing, especially RPGs which are HEAVILY story-driven. Games like Animal Crossing are also great for inspiring stories because of all the vagueness and lack of backstory. It's a world where you can create stories so freely~

RPGs challenge you to write within a universe, to keep personalities in mind, to keep the limitations of the world in mind. The better you know the world and its quirks and established characters, the more believable a story you can write. RPGs offer a more technical challenge for writing with a lot of room for creativity. Games like Animal Crossing offer a looser universe where you can be more creative, but your own ideas and such need to be up to snuff to make something truly unique and enjoyable. Both present different challenges~ And that's only 2 genres!

I only just noticed Animal Crossing gave me a story idea for my SATS and I got a Level 6! :o
