Ok, I'm really sick of duplicate DIYs

I have 3 rooms full of DIY HHA is not happy with me lol. I've been trying to give them away but no one needs them anymore.. they just keep piling up. I wanna get rid of them now but I feel bad that others might need them. But I think I'll just let my alt character learn them all instead of selling them..

I have been getting the same DIY three times. I'm sick of going to the islands and finding the same DIY. Plus not many sharks. I haven't been to shark island yet.

According to the guide, certain recipes are locked behind you having x amount already. For example, you won't get the peach chair from a Normal villager until you've got 100 unique recipes in your collection.

And Ray Jay, I agree. It wasn't until I started actively seeking new recipes that I was able to finish the set (minus out of season and zodiac). Nookazon was clutch, as was a member here that had 30+ crown/wreath recipes available to purchase via TBT.

This is interesting. I kind of wish I bought the guide when it first came out. Seems impossible to get for a decent price at this time.

For all they know, they sure are oblivious to the fact that recipes can’t be stored. Which is exactly why I’m not keeping them anymore. I kinda feel bad but I think a lot of players probably don’t need most of the duplicates I seem to be getting. I tried to sell a large amount of extras a while back and it didn’t go well at all.

I really wouldn't mind duplicates that much if they didn't count as trash on the island or in my house. I also wish they wouldn't give duplicates from really basic sets like the Simple DIY Workbench. But at the same time, I'm almost at 300 hours in the game and I still don't have stuff like the coconut juice and actual DIY workbench which is really frustrating. In a perfect world, ACNH would have a trading booth for DIYs like Pokemon did with the GTS

Maybe even something simple as an NPC lottery type thing where we can trade an amount of recipes for a chance to get a new one. We’d still get old ones but at least we’d have extra chances.

i don't time travel and i still have a basement that is completely full of dupe DIYs- i keep the "better ones" (ironwood, seasonal, etc.) for friends who have just gotten the game and sell everything else, but i basically get only duplicates every day and i'm so sad about it

The main room of my house AND the basement are full of extra DIYs, and this is with me actively trading DIYs for NMTs with people. That's how bad it is. I'm quite annoyed with it. It is neat that we get extras to give to other people, but when the extras keep on coming and coming, you can't keep up with giving it to others and you end up like me. I figure I just need to sell or trash some of them.

i’m just super annoyed that we can’t refuse duplicates. it makes ZERO sense to have the option to refuse a diy we haven’t learned yet from a villager but not to have the option to refuse one we’ve already learned. i hate having all these extra diys that i’m holding onto in the off-chance someone wants them that are cluttering up my island ;;

THIS. I always thought this as well. If Nintendo ever changes something about this, let it be that they switch it around. I'll always take the new ones, but after that, give me a choice if I want a duplicate.

My other account's house is loaded with all my duplicate diys (main room is already full of diys already, the left and right room almost lol) it really is annoying tbh!

Duplicate DIYs are a double-edged sword to me. On one hand, it is disappointing to find a DIY you've already learned. On the other, you can sell or trade them with other players online, like here in the forum community, to try to acquire other DIYs that you want.

The bigger issue, for me, is that you can't put DIY cards in storage. It's a really annoying oversight or decision. I just have to sacrifice my basement to dedicate to their storage, and/or throw them outside, both options being unpleasant and ugly.

I feel the pain. I have started throwing away duplicates of my duplicates and the very basic ones. I did a trade with someone recently who asked for a DIY from their wishlist and I gave them 3 just because I wanted to get rid of them. I do have a friend that is trying to get a switch to have her own island (currently plays with her kids) and so hopefully I can give all my duplicates to her.

One of the reasons I hesitate to get DIYs online is that I don't want more duplicates once my villagers do make it.

I don't mind dupe DIYs so much because when I collect a bunch then I give them away to people who don't have them, but what really irks me about the whole thing is that they can't be put in storage! Every time I get a letter from the HHA they're like "bruh u got junk lying around in your first floor room, that's what trash cans are for" well maybe if you guys would allow us to store spare DIYs this wouldn't be such a huge problem!

I have so many spare ones cluttering up the grass in front of my airport. I want to give them to people who need them but I don't have time to check which ones they are and list them on here. I think I'll have to sell them, bin them or have my second character learn them soon.

lol, everyone says they take up the basement...my island entire beach front would like a word with you. I love the online community because everyone helped me finish collecting all of the normal diys, so now all I have left are the ones that can only be gotten in each season. I already got all the spring ans summer ones, so now its just the fall and winter diys. And since I dont tt, I'll wait naturally to get all those.

I've also noticed to crazy amount of duplicate diys! I haven't even had my island for that long yet I keep finding more and more of the same diys. It's getting pretty frustrating ngl.
