Ok, I'm really sick of duplicate DIYs

I feel that if we were allowed to keep them in the storage it would have been more acceptable to me, what I hate about them is that I always want to keep them in case they can be useful to someone else and they always end up in my basement

I mean, I have 20 whale sharks, several antique wardrobes, and 350 t-shirts in my storage, but there's no room for a card with a recipe on!?

I just mail them to my friend, problem is I only have one and they're currently giving me the silent treatment. Somewhat worried my DIY Recipe spamming may be annoying them but honestly the recipes are not worth selling. It'd be nice if they could bump up the sell value a bit higher?

I also hate how you can only "store" them by dropping them on your island or in your house. Neither of which helps with trying to increase house/island rank.

I'm less sick of duplicates now that I'm on here and can trade them... but what I AM sick of is not being able to put them in storage!

Seriously, is there a reason for this? It makes no sense. I had to sacrifice a side character's attic to store them all. I keep getting HHA letters like "you know you have storage, right?" and I just wanna shake them like "BUT I CAN'T PUT THEM IN STORAGE"

...As of right now, it's my biggest pet peeve in the game

Havent happened to me! The closest i can recall is when i got only one new diy and the rest were old, i think. I wish we could refuse them, it feels taunting to force me to take an old one if i had it like twice before XD

I've learned to check my crafting villagers with full pockets, if I want the diy, just drop an item, and come back for it. Duplicates drive me crazy.

That’s not a bad idea, but I feel like I would get equally as sick of having to do that.

i’m just super annoyed that we can’t refuse duplicates. it makes ZERO sense to have the option to refuse a diy we haven’t learned yet from a villager but not to have the option to refuse one we’ve already learned. i hate having all these extra diys that i’m holding onto in the off-chance someone wants them that are cluttering up my island ;;

I keep reading that it’s possible to refuse a DIY we don’t have but have never tried it. Why would they think we would want to do that?!

Haha it really is ridiculous especially when put into perspective like this. Then the HHA talks trash about storing items we aren’t using.

You and me both. I think I’ve had a full basement’s worth of DIYs at least three times by now.

But yeah, I had three normal villagers for a while, so I was constantly getting dupes from them.

I just realized that I should start using the trash cans in front of my villagers houses!

I just get the DIYs i want from turnip.exchange now. At least that way, you don't get duplicates, and sometimes people let you get the DIY for free

Does anyone else feel like certain DIYs are kept out of your game so that you have to trade for them?

I've got plenty of duplicate DIYs, including golden ones, wreaths etc...but could never get the damned fruit basket!

This evening I finally traded for it.

According to the guide, certain recipes are locked behind you having x amount already. For example, you won't get the peach chair from a Normal villager until you've got 100 unique recipes in your collection.

And Ray Jay, I agree. It wasn't until I started actively seeking new recipes that I was able to finish the set (minus out of season and zodiac). Nookazon was clutch, as was a member here that had 30+ crown/wreath recipes available to purchase via TBT.

Egbert made the same one twice in one day. Golden dung beetle and mountain standee I've gotten so many times it's crazy. But I have to come on here to get the barrel and the barbell, smh. I too am missing many crowns and wreaths but also things like birdcage,infused water dispenser and wooden block bench. I really wish that in a future update they will make it so we will get less duplicates or even make it where we can buy them.

I have 3 rooms full of DIY HHA is not happy with me lol. I've been trying to give them away but no one needs them anymore.. they just keep piling up. I wanna get rid of them now but I feel bad that others might need them. But I think I'll just let my alt character learn them all instead of selling them..

I really wouldn't mind duplicates that much if they didn't count as trash on the island or in my house. I also wish they wouldn't give duplicates from really basic sets like the Simple DIY Workbench. But at the same time, I'm almost at 300 hours in the game and I still don't have stuff like the coconut juice and actual DIY workbench which is really frustrating. In a perfect world, ACNH would have a trading booth for DIYs like Pokemon did with the GTS
