There's a thread here for ReTail specific pet peeves but this didn't actually happen on this site, so I figured it's more a general pet peeve as such XD

I finally found someone selling a stewpot (well I've found others selling too but due to various complications, such as never replying, having to leave before they get back etc, I've still yet to get one). I was pretty pleased, so I looked up the value on mori and found it usually costs about 960 bells as a normal reorderable nook item. I was so pleased to see it finally that I figured I'd offer closer to 7 times it's value (7k), only to be told "that's too low". I replied to let them know that I'm aware of it's real status (buy price, orderability, means of finding etc,) in case they had perhaps been misled into thinking it was unorderable DLC or something, and added 10k as my new offer (since I'd really like the stewpot and 10 times the original value is pretty generous!). I was told "no thank, you bye!" to which all I can say is, there is a serious attitude and greed issue going on there o . o

I mean wow, how much should I apparently be paying per average, normal item? The 7-11s and sloppies have an average of 1-2 mil each, so what is the average of a normal nook item? I like to be generous, but when people are trying to take you to the bank for an indefinite amount of money over a single normal item, it's a little bit much. If I were ordering several normal nook items, I generally would offer over 10k per one, but as it was just the one, I figured it wasn't really that necessary. So it's a few months of searching and still no stewpot. Does anyone else have an ordinary item that has continued to elude them? If I or others in the thread can help, we should get to work on making these items more accessible for each other c: Even just a catalogue can help someone out ^^

Man, that's messed up. If I ever get my hands on a stewpot, I'll let you know. And that's a good idea.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it so o . o I was starting to think I was going crazy for a minute there, being made to feel cheap offering 10k for something normal (yes it's popular, but that's why I was offering 10k in the first place LOL)

Thanks! I know it took a long time for me to find the hotplate and rice cooker, and I straight away ordered in lots extra in case people wanted to catalogue or buy them (I often see whole threads made just looking for them). I like to keep some on hand in case I meet someone who's been searching c: I figure the more I order, the more there will be circulating in the community! XD

I think it's ridiculous when people want a normal item for so much, it's so greedy.
I have the stewpot and you can have it for free.. I'll order myself a new one tomorrow. :3

We've traded a couple of times before- I wish I'd known you were looking for the stewpot, as I have one and have been letting people I am familiar with catalog it for free.

Anyway, I know what you mean. I've seen some sad displays of greed in the Re-Tail boards for the paltriest of items. Like "Oh hey, I'm looking for a gingham tee." Someone comes along and decides to try and be crafty.."What's it worth to you?" LMAO!

Those are camper items, right? Could I catalog them?

@Hirisa LOL well, I'm afraid a mighty gingham tee is simply priceless.... hahaha XDD

Thanks everyone! C: I'm not heartbroken over it, but it was shocking to see that kind of attitude about an item that's not really so hard to get more of XD

@Megatastic - that's be awesome, but i'm about to head out for the day, if we can be quick, I can do it now, or if that's a rush for you, when I get back sometime ^^

@Hirisa - if I end up going out before meeting with megatastic, I'll catalogue from you sometime ^^

I'm just happy to know I'm not in some parallel universe where everyone thinks it's worth that much XD haha

- - - Post Merge - - -

@Blue - nope just totally ordinary nook store items, same as stewpot :P Sure, but I'm going out now so I can't do much till I get back, sorry everyone! If you do see me online later, poke for a catalogue on those things XD haha oh that and sushi platter! (don't let anyone kid you into thinking it's the one worth 1mil, it's not LOL)

I'll only trade my pink gingham tee for the full 7-11 set. :P

Yep, my catalog offer is open. Just PM me.

Hmm. Could've sworn they were camper items. And that's just fine. I'm not doing much.

Geez, and here's me looking for all those food-y items and only just broke 1mil a week ago.

although I'm still looking for the hot plate, stew pot, rice cooker, hot pot, sushi platter, and 50 million other things that I'll never get.

I'll add your FC and open my gate. ^w^

Edit: Ah, what is your FC. XD

Edit again: I see your offline now~ Just PM me tomorrow and I'll give it to you then. :3

People these days are just greedy! They want all the money they can get and their trades are outrageous.
I was given a throne to me for free by a villager and I saw someone on the Re-Tail thread wanted it and offered 700k! I thought that was crazy and then someone else said they usually sell for 800k! I let him have it for 500k if he brought some normal cherries.

I know it's an expensive item, but I don't see the point in charging that much for it when I got it for free.

Man, if I had it, I would have at least let you catalog it for free. At the repurchase price, I would have probably just given it to you, even though I don't know you. With over 10 mil bells in my ABD, it's not like I'm hurting for funds.

I don't think it has much to do with the cost of ordering the item. Running a forum shop seems like really hard work what with tracking items, organizing orders, coordinating meet ups... I think it's understandable to want to make a certain amount for their time. If a merchant could be making more by working on a higher paying order then it makes sense to me that they'd decline to do business. Yes, it's technically greedy but bells are very important for getting public works, jump starting second towns, buying dream villagers... I think there are lots of other motivations beyond just getting money.

Meanwhile the generosity I see daily on the villager giveaway thread is proof that not everyone is greedy! I'll bet there's a group out there that is dedicated to helping each other fill out each others' catalogs. And if there's not, we could totally make one in this thread or another one like it. :)

I think that's an awesome idea. All in favor?

@allsquirrels - this wasn't a shop, there was no ordering involved and no meet ups needing to be organised, I understand perfectly well those complications as I run a shop here myself, and nothing is more annoying and difficult then people ordering in 10 items and then never picking them up, but that is not what this case was. They were doing a closet clean out type thing, listing the stuff they wanted to get rid of, asking for offers. If they really needed a large amount for whatever reason, they should have posted a price that they were looking for XD

@napoleanic - didn't you see my offer in the first post? I said I'd help people if they were looking for similar items, I have all of those and would be willing to help? You don't need a million to buy them? None of them are worth more than 1-2k.

Yeah, there's some pretty greedy people out there. I think some of the high prices are fair for extremely rare or non-orderable items. But anything that's re-orderable, I personally don't accept paying much of a premium beyond what it costs to order it. I also see some people charging high prices just to *catalog* orderable stuff. I don't really agree with that either.

You can find people who will do things for fair prices. You just have to look.

I think that's an awesome idea. All in favor?

I have a good sized catalog and I order 15 new items per day from my Happy Home Showcase (I live in Japan - my showcase is full) on top of everything I get from Nooklings and trades and such. I'd be willing to help run and/or organize such a thing, but I don't have enough TBT bells at the moment to start a group.

"Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it." - Syrus, Publilius

If some people are willing to pay more than double for an item they desire, then the Retailer's over on Retail will want them as a customer rather than those who would only pay less; Retailers that have lower prices might not have the amount of inventory the greedy retailers have due to them having more bells so they?re able buy missing pieces of their catalogues and can handle larger, more expensive orders due to their deeper pockets.

I offered someone one time 50K bells to let me catalog some regal items I was missing, basically 10K per item just to let me pick it up and put it back down. This player had been in the IRC chat complaining about needing bells, so it was pure profit for him AND he would have made some bells.

Nope, he apparently wanted people to give him 300K bells (he was asking for 298K) for no reason, just because he was begging for it.

Retail is overpriced. Expect to have to pay 50,000 for common items, and 100,000 for anything decent. Million or more for unorderables.

I have a Sushi Platter. Want to catalog it?
