I doubt that there aren’t more updates to Timmy and Tommy’s shop. New Leaf had 5 expansions in total, and previous games also had at least 4 (that I remember). But I haven’t heard of anybody upgrading to the third expansion.

I think it might be locked behind an update, because there are players that time travel and are fast at unlocking things.

more maybe the rumor that the game was incomplete is true :/
I would be so upset to learn that the shop only had two upgrades.

The fact that there is a little weird bucket right next to nooks cranny, makes me believe there’s going to be a future upgrade. The shop overall appearance looks a bit unfinished.

It’s definitely DLC locked. I’ve kept track of how many bella i spend and i’ve spent roughly 500k bells and played many many many days lol

Last I heard, there is another upgrade found through datamining, but no model or a way to access it. Pretty sure lots of features will be coming throughout the year. This is also the Splatoon team after all. Guess they wanted to try out the same live service model as those games. As long as they’re also free then I think it’s pretty welcome imo. Will be playing this game for longer than NL I feel. If they add in lots of content in the coming months.

... have the guides shipped yet?

If so, maybe the official guide with give some insider information about this?

I know the guide was used to prove that the data miner was accurate a few days ago, that it would be impossible to have an upgrade Nook Cranny rn without TTing. (Tomorrow is the first time non-TTers can get it, right?) Since a lot of people were arguing about how he had to be wrong "because I got it without TTing~" ... then the guide came out and proved they lied because the game had only been out for like 25 days. Lmao
... not a jab at TTers, just thought it was funny these ppl tried to save face as anti-TTers when their game literally let the tanuki outta the bag. Lol

I 100% believe that there will be updates for many of the buildings, as well as additional buildings that we haven't even seen yet. I kinda have a feeling that the museum is going to get both an art wing, as well as Brewster's cafe. And Nook's should definitely get at least one or two more upgrades.

About an upcoming event:

Remember, Leif is supposed to be coming for Earth Day, which is next week. Maybe when this happens, it will open the option for the third expansion, for the garden center within Nook's. They probably just wanted to introduce Leif properly before allowing further expansions.

I'm sure there will be more. I time travel, currently have 120 days in the game, and know I have certainly spent at least 3 miles at Nooks Cranny. Hopefully I will unlock it as soon as it is added, because their first upgrade is very lacking.

A bit OT but have people who don't time travel gotten the first upgrade yet? I don't TT and have spend hundreds of thousands of bells yet. I read somewhere that it has to be open for 28 days so I guess it might upgrade for me within the next week because I built it on the 3rd or 4th day, can't remember.

I'm almost certain it's locked behind updates, Nookington's (or a department kind of store) is a staple to the series (but maybe I'm being too confident).

But does anyone else find it weird that the store is still called "Nook's Cranny" when it's upgraded? Does this indicate more upgrades or am I missing something? Why not call the 2nd upgrade Nook 'n' Go?

The companion guide says you need to have 200,000 bells worth of transactions done at the shop (buying or selling, which most of us def have done) and the shop itself has to be open for at LEAST 30 days before they consider upgrading it.

Those of us who haven't TT'd and was playing since launch should see their stores begin upgrading this coming week!

It's a bit weird, but it's still a kind of general store-type shop, so it kind of makes sense?
As long as the potential other upgrades aren't also called Nook's Cranny, I'll be happy.

I hope so. The rollout for the shop expansion has been torture. I'm not exactly an impatient person...but, this decision hasn't made sense to me. Play for an entire month just to unlock a slightly bigger shop? C'mon, Nintendo...you could have made it a week, fifteen days...or even the old formula of having a visitor buy an item there. A month was always going to be too long of a wait.

It's more than likely that Nintendo is trying to get people to TT much less. Also the fact that we barely have any info on what's to come keeps us in suspense on what's to come.

This isn't new to the franchise though. I think it took this long to upgrade the shops in previous games, no? It's been a while since I played previous versions so I may be wrong, forgive me if I am.

Regardless, the shop upgrade isn't just slightly larger but we will have a larger variety of items to choose from because I think some items are locked to the shop upgrade! I don't see many expensive things in my shop rn but I know once I upgrade I'll be able to get more.

I believe in New Leaf the first upgrade was after 10 days. And I think you're right about the variety, I dont recall the first shop selling a premium item every day.
