No Internet for Egypt

I feel like that's pretty extreme and really well coordinated to shut down a whole country. I wonder how much stuff got screwed up because of it.

Remember something like this would happen to us, but it got cancelled?

No.
Did you even read the article? The U.S. has THOUSANDS of ISPs, and a coordinated shutoff of all internet would be near impossible. Egypt has a grand total of four ISPs.

This isn't just about the internet. Mubarak just announced that he would be firing all of the cabinet members in response. But guess what... he is staying! And he's the main problem.

I'm fairly ignorant of what it is like to live in Egypt, but the fact that Mubarak "shut down" access to the Internet within Egypt is sufficient and ample evidence, for me, to believe that he needs to be removed from power.

Egypt was so prosperous in the centuries that they weren't in contact with anyone due to geographical barriers protecting them from any outsiders(we're talking like 3,000-2,000 BCE here) I'm sure cutting off the internet for a few years couldn't hurt too much.

It's not about them not being to go on Facebook or whatever.
It's the fact that the government is taking its attempts to limit free speech so far that they are preventing any contact with the outside world. It's censorship on one of the grandest scales. THAT is the issue here.

You sick and twisted prick!

You do know that people are missing their virtual pets, worrying their friends without video chatting with them, not partaking in online events, missing out on funny threads on their forums, and other fun things?
Some people are addicted, some people aren't addicted but love the internet more than necessary, and we shalt not mocketh them so! /lolwut

Jeremy, you sick twister pr.... lol jk

I seriously don't understand what the big whoop about Egypt not having Internet's about,... :S
