Hi! I hope this is the right place to post this. I've been having trouble trying to download any of the Japanese DLC through Nintendo Zone. I've always done the "trick your DS" thing by setting my smartphone to mobile hot spot with the SSID name "Bestbuy" and it has ALWAYS worked in the past. However these past few times, every time I go to the post office and ask for a present, I'm only getting the zodiac pieces. If I try again I basically get the hahaaaa greedy trickster message. :( Does the router/hot spot trick still work? I might have to drive out of my way to see if going to a real Nintendo Zone will be any better. Anyone else have this issue or been able to resolve it?

I don't think it's nintendo Zone, it's through connecting to normal Wi-Fi I believe. They come out with a new item every 2 weeks, I believe. (I think not 100% sure)

I've read that a lot of those Nintendo Zones don't work anymore...?
but then
A super effective solution would be to just buy the whatever unorderable or DLC from one of the many, many selling threads over at the TBT Marketplace (using your forum bells instead of AC in-game bells).
It'd be a much more sensible alternative time & cost-wise, in my opinion.
Good luck! C:

You can trick your DS?

What DLC are you trying to get? Are you sure it's a Nintendo Zone exclusive? Lots of DLC (like the Zodiac set) are things you can get from regular wifi in your house, not Nintendo Zones. If that's the case with the DLC you're after you'd have to trick your 3DS into thinking you're connecting to wifi in Japan. I don't know if it depends on your 3DS location settings and game region as well.

I've never tried the hotspot trick and didn't know about it until now. At the very least, I'd assume you'd have to get the location name to match a Nintendo Zone in the country you're trying to get DLC from, not one where you actually live.

Have you checked which post office DLC is available in Japan right now? If they're getting the Zodiac set, that's probably why.

You could just buy the DLC you want from the TBT Marketplace or get it through a trade.

I'm not sure the Best Buy Nintendo Zones work anymore. Mine did up until a month ago. I have no idea why it stopped either.

I read somewhere that changing your router name to "Bestbuy" doesn't work anymore. I would "attwifi", like somebody else suggested.

I also read that they're going to be rotating these through until November, so you'll have more than one opportunity to get them!

It's definitely Nintendo Zone in the US for receiving items previously only received in Japan. See the article here:

http://nintendonews.com/2015/02/animal-crossing-new-leaf-dlc-japanese/

They started this on February 1st but I didn't bother trying to get it to work until yesterday. I'll try the attwifi SSID and see if that works.

I've been trading on the forums but figured, if Nintendo will make it "easy" to obtain the items, then why not? Lol so much for ease though.

Oh! Fabulous!

Thanks for the tip on trying attwifi! I just got the ceramic hot pot instead of zodiac software. Phew!
