Are you sure it is the screen and not the scrren protector. If it is just the protector remove it and place another one. They are like shatter proof glass. I have had one crack but my screen be perfectally fine

I'm not sure... it looks like shards of glass is coming out of the side..how should I go about removing it any tips?

I'm sorry to hear that ! I'd first do what Angelbearpuppy said, as it's most likely the screen protector (switch's plastic screen is hella résistent)
If you still need to get it fixed tho I suggest you to check this website:
I'm gonna try removing it just not sure how to go about it kinda nervous now but the support centers are not taking any repairs due to covid right now ...I thought the switch lites screen was glass and the screen protector was plastic so that's wierd

can you post picture? i use a screen protector on my phone and sometimes when the tempered glass breaks it looks like the phone screen broke too. but it's just the protector that's broken.

hopefully your switch is okay!

It kinda does look like it's the screen protector but also looks like it could be the screen underneath which is why I'm weary of removing the protector cause I kinda dont want the screen to shatter and peel off with it

Thanks everyone I'll let u know

Usually I pick the less damaged cornor and slowly start leveraging it up and off. The sceen protectors can crack and spiderweb. They are meant to to keep the stuff together and pieces from scattering. The only way you will know for sure is to remove it. Even if the screen underneath is damages. They would still remove the screen protector to fix it. I agree though. Post a picture if you can mayhe someone else can help better.

To update everyone it actually was just the screen protector that's so odd I've never seen one do that.. are the switch lites screens really plastic?? I thought I read a couple times they crack

The switch lite and switch in general are mostly plastic. Makes them durable, but also makes them scratchable.

Yeah, I keep a screen protector on both of mine to protect from scratches rather than cracks! Glad yours ended up being okay!

That video is so cringey I could hardly bare to watch it but at the same time I wish he went crazy on it with a hammer and then just completely destroyed it

He makes a lot of videos like that, I'll admit some are hard to watch, but still fascinating.

He doesn't use hammers because even a hammer can smash a diamond, it wouldn't be a useful metric. Hardness =/= strength.
