Nintendo Distribuition closed in brasil, no games for me

Wait, did Nintendo decided to stop shipping all over South America, or is it just Brazil that banned video gaming?

Neither. Nintendo didn't decide to stop shipping all over South America, and Brazil didn't ban gaming.

Nintendo decided to leave the gaming market in Brazil (and only Brazil) due to the very high taxes imposed on imported products by the government. The Wii U retailed for about $725 US in Brazil because of that. The taxes are in place to "encourage" businesses to build factories in Brazil, so their economy can be fixed somewhat. However, there's too much risk involved with that though, so Nintendo just made the decision to drop Brazil.

Isn't Brazil in the PAL region? If so, you can probably still buy games online. I assume that if you change your console's settings to another country you can buy things from that country's eshop (if you don't want to deal with customs taxes if you buy physical copies of games). As long as the region is compatible with your system, you can get the games from other countries. The exchange rate might be a problem, I don't know.

Nope. Only some E-Shop 3DS Titles, but no wii u gems for me. Guess it's time to say goodbye to smash and start playing...
playstation all farts

Okay so questions here, Nintendo leaving Brazil = means the wifi got shut off and you can't play what you have now except locally? That post kinda threw me off... But I was kinda wondering what it meant for people who've already bought a WiiU and/or a 3DS. What happens? You just have what you have and that's it for that?

I know what you're talking about... my ex boyfriend lives in Argentina and it took him weeks for his local game store to eventually stock Smash Bros 3DS and about a week to get Pok?mon ORAS. He was unable to download anything from the eShop, but he could connect to it and look at everything when he changed his 3DS location in the options to say he was from the US, but once he went to buy a game, it wouldn't accept his card details because they were non-US.

He could try switching the country to Canada. I heard that they do accept foreign credit cards, as long as they're either Visa or MasterCard.

This is the situation:
Nintendo only stopped to marketing in Brazil, meaning that brazilians can still buy their consoles and games locally, but with a higher cost since now it's something rare to find. Companies will have a troublesome time buying nintendo products from now on and small companies will probably stop, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to buy and play anymore. The option to buy online is still up, mainly because the games played in Brazil have the USA region, so yeah it's not difficult to import games, ebay/amazon/etc are still shipping to them.
About e-shop, yes, it works on the 3DS normally, but the e-shop on WiiU had never even existed in Brazil. But now about the online feature I can't really say, I only know that so far everything is still working, I doubt Nintendo will completely cut down braziliand connection, because it makes no sense.
