We’ve all heard about the interest rate nerf. Does anyone know the new interest rate? Haven’t really seen anyone mention the new rate.

They moved a decimal point to the left. 99,999 was the cap before, now it is 9,999. If you would have made 1400 bells at the beginning of the month, now you will make 140.

Source: I time travel and have two characters that I checked.

I don't understand the point in the reduction of interest. Most time travelers weren't making their bells on interest, but buying/selling turnips, villagers, DIYs, etc and charging people to visit their islands.

Wow that’s horrible. If anything, it would be punishing non-time travelers worse. Since if people did time travel to gain interest, they’d just keep doing it. Whereas people who don’t would be gaining less.

This is actually a good thing imo. People could time travel 60 years ahead and get millions of bells without working for them.

That could easily have been solved by not allowing mail to constantly build up in your mailbox like it does. Or requiring people to visit the ABC to get the interest rate applied.

Don't you actually have to play 1 day in the month to get that interest? I thought if you skipped like 12 months all at once, you'd only receive a month worth of interest. If it's still combining, TT'ers can skip 100 years, and then you'd have (12 * 100) * 9,999 = ‭11,998,800‬ bells

it feels really frustrating tbqh!
the loans and costs of items are higher than ever in this game and the costs associated with moving houses etc mean that most people need bells more than ever?

i have all my savings through legit means and its not that much but the interest on it was something i've been using. what does it matter to nintendo if i have 63k more a month, but for me - that's a house move. hackers and top level players arent making their money off the ABD.

now if they're going to adjust the interest rate to mimic economic upturns and downturns and this is something that's gonna adjust - that's fair, but this choice just feels to hit the middle-of-the-road players the most. sighs !

I think it’s kind of bizarre they reduced it but not the end of the world. Lots of ways to make bells still

That's a big nerf, wow. At least there are other better and faster ways to make bells.

It was done to force people into getting into the stalk market, which is the only way to make big bucks right now. Why would they do that? To force people to buy their online subscription, since trying your luck in the stalk market by playing alone never works (you'll always lose more than you can earn, in the long run).

Yup cashgrab.

That's actually a great point that I didn't think of. It's rather unfortunate too, since not having online makes the game a lot harder already. I wouldn't even be close to where I am now if I hadn't cooperated with friends in the beginning.

that’s unfortunate. i’ve literally never had any interest in the stalk market and there reasoning for nerfing the interest rate is a bit silly to me. i can guarantee that they’re making plenty of money already, they didn’t need to try and force players into buying and selling turnips lmao
