New Horizons F.A.Q. – Ask Questions Here!

I just saw the cutest little frog item in a youtube video and I can't for the life of me find out what it it and how to get it. Can anyone enligthen me?

I play on my own. Could I make up an additional fictitious profile on my Switch, and play the game as a new resident, but still keep my existing profile?

I assume I'd start in a tent, and loads of bells later have a house with all the rooms, and then be able to decorate that house?

I've customised my phone, but how do I actually see it?
if you open the phone, you’ll see your character holding it as usual with the customised case. I think you can also see it if you use the reaction/emote of taking a photo, if you have that one.

Yes, you can. I’ve done this - I have my actual Nintendo account linked profile and then an extra one just to have an extra resident in ACNH. Your new resident will move in to the same island with a tent like you said and you can decorate their house (as long as you’re playing as that resident). I dont know how it would work if you were to attempt to play online or anything. But making extra profiles on your switch for ACNH will not remove your original one :)

Is it the keroppi snack maybe?

It comes from scanning the Sanrio amiibo cards and then you can order as many as you want in NookShopping. If you don’t have the amiibo cards, then you can trade for it online, or locally if you know someone irl who has it.

If it’s not this item, do you have a screenshot of what you’re looking for?

I'm thinking of buying another Switch (console only) just so I can have a second ACNH island.

Can I use this in the docking station that my current Switch resides, and just keep swapping the game cartridge from one to the other, depending upon which island I want to play on?

You can, yes! If you have two consoles, one dock, and one physical AC:NH cartridge, you can use the same dock and cartridge for both Switches (at different times, of course). You won't be able to play both islands at the same time, but you'll certainly be able to have two islands! 😊

I have now bought a second Switch, and have started a second island.

The first two villagers which are already on the island, and the next three - are they all random?

Yesterday I built the 'Plot 1 housing kit' and made all the items. I then used a Nook Miles Ticket to go to an island where I saw Nana. I thought she was cute, so spoke with her and she said she'd move to my island. But when I played today, I discovered I had Rex! Why did I end up with him, and not Nana?

Also, Redd turned up today, but I cannot get down to see him where the small beach is by foot as there are boulders in the way by the sea. I have to swim to get there. I get messages of 'There's no cliff nearby where you can hang a vine" or for a ladder, "There's no usable cliff space nearby where you can set this"

From what I’ve gathered, Nana should be one of the three to move in, but they don’t necessarily move in the order you invited them, so Rex snuck in there!

I don’t think you can get to the beach without the ladder tool. The vine and ladder prop won’t work there because there needs to be at least one free tile beneath the cliff. Since in the starting maps, the cliff is always right to the edge of the map, there’s no space there until you can terraform it.

Hope that helps! :)

I now have six residents on my island. I have a housing kit from Tom Nook. I want Jay as my seventh resident. Can I get him by inviting him three times to the campsite via amiibo, and crafting whatever he requires? When I invite him for the third time, would I then place the housing kit for a new house, then craft his third and final item, and hopefully he will move?

That should work, I think. Just don’t place the housing kit until his third visit, otherwise someone else will move into it. :)

Hi Guys, this has probably been asked a billion times, but as a returning player that hasnt played for a few years I had a couple of questions please?

1) Did they ever allow you to batch make things like Fish Bait? I Remember it taking aaaaages before, did they ever sort this in an update?

2) Cooking / Crops were never a thing when I last played, at what point do they unlock please?

3) The islands you can visit via flying, is it possible for them to produce fruit other than your own? (Not including coconuts)

4) I think this id a mandella effect thing here but Im sure on my first island I had both coconuts and bananas on my beach? Or am I thinking of New Leaf?

I think thats it for now :)

Many Thanks

Hi hi others can add on to this but here's some general answers to your questions.

1 - I believe in the upcoming 3.0 update, it might be possible to craft batches of fish bait, medicine, etc. since they showed briefly in the trailer that you can bulk craft furniture.

2 - As for cooking/crops, I believe you just need to have K.K. visit your island once, and then you can start getting cooking diy and growing your own crops.

3 - Yes, it's possible to fly to an island that could have other fruit other than your native fruit, but it's some what rare from what I've experienced (unless my rng was really bad)

4 - That was New Leaf. New Horizons do not have banana trees.

Just to add for question 3 - I'm pretty sure you can only ever get three types of fruit on nook miles islands:
1. Your native fruit
2. Coconuts
3. Your island's sister fruit.
For example, my island native fruit is apples, and my sister fruit is oranges, so I only ever get those two fruits on those islands. Obtaining the other three fruits is quite tricky without trading with friends or online. I've heard that sending fruit to villagers in letters can sometimes get them to send fruit back that might be new.

Guys I planted a few rows of fruit trees yesterday as I wanted to create an orchard, this morning a few of the trees have spawned but a lot haven't, does anyone know the reason for this?

To my knowledge they are spaced out correctly and there is nothing in the way so I cant figure out why most of them havent grown?

Any help would be much appreciated

It looks like you only have one space in between your saplings, rather than two spaces; is that correct?

When planting from seeds, saplings (🟢) need two spaces (❌) free on all sides, like this:
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
❌❌🟢❌❌🟢❌❌🟢❌❌
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
❌❌🟢❌❌🟢❌❌🟢❌❌
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
❌❌🟢❌❌🟢❌❌🟢❌❌
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌

Once the tree is fully grown, they can then be re-planted one space apart!

Hi Guys,

Sorry but I've got another returning noob question! I've currently got 5 Villagers on my island and today can build the campsite, from what I remember you HAVE to take whoever is first into the camp site but I can't remember if after that you can Island hop for your last 4 Villagers or if they are random?

Any help would be amazing, Thanks as always

You're remembering correctly! After you invite the villager staying at the campsite, you can island hop for the remaining villagers!

The one thing worth remembering is that for those last four villagers, you can only invite one Mystery Island villager per day. If you place more than one plot down on a single day, any others will automatically be filled with a random villager (so it's better to only place one plot down per day).
