NEW HAIRSTYLES!

I love that they've added in more hairstyles that make it so people feel like they're being represented and can make a character that looks like themselves, I hope they continue adding in more hairstyles over the coming months while they're releasing updates
That is the good part about it. I would never use any of the new styles but I’m glad it’s there for the people that want it

I think Twitter and other social media needs to stop gatekeeping. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the reason we haven't gotten these hairstyles from the beginning was because of the constant backlash about who and who shouldn't wear a hairstyle or traditional dress. The afro was already a thing in New Leaf, but then in New Horizons, it wasn't present up until recently. There was some controversy back before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate came out about Mr. Game & Watch having a feather on his head when he did his forward smash. It was a visual appearance he had in one of his games. Nintendo removed it. The Native American headdress and attire was in New Leaf, and probably in City Folk, I can't remember, but they're not present in New Horizons. Could the issue with Ultimate have made the Native American headdress and outfit not available?

Meanwhile, there are other traditional attire in New Horizons. For example, we didn't have a lederhosen or dirndl in New Leaf, but they became available in New Horizons. Same with the Tam O'Shanter and kilt. Well, the hat was only available through Europe's DLC, while we still got the kilt, which made no sense. We have various kimonos in this game too, but people don't seem to mind dressing their own villager in these outfits. Animal Crossing has gone into the controversial area of cultural appropriation, or appreciation, however you look at it. The United States, love it or hate it, is considered a melting pot, so how can you have multiculturalism if you're going to try to prevent others from loving diversity? It's one thing to dress your villager up in an offensive manner, but it's another to dress your villager up and celebrate varying cultures and backgrounds.
