I stopped playing Neopets recently, I finally realized there is no sense of playing it unless you know how to bot your way to fame. Which leads on to the next thing, you can't really have fun in the game unless you're famous (ex. owning a complete set of the Secret Lab, having difficult to retrieve avatars). Otherwise, you're just another player who will get judged for not being able to afford a little over a million for every purchase. Now, mind you, this reasoning only comes from someone who likes to have fun and share things with others.

If you're a real minor who hasn't been exposed to the more complex parts of the world such as how the economy work or if you haven't a single clue about how Neopets really works, then I suppose you could find some joy in playing their repetitive flash games. You'll also find complete joy in getting that personal High Score or if you got into the Top 50. After all that and you get your first, "Your score is currently under review," you start panicking. Whether or not TNT is feeling generous, you'll either finally get that trophy to show off to your 'virtual' friends or you'll have your account ICED and blocked from the game.

It ultimately depends to how much you've seen and been exposed to on the internet. For example, there are those who have joined hundreds upon hundreds of sites like Neopets who'll argue that there ARE other games out there that are much better then there are some who would argue that Neopets is a ton of fun.
