I changed my 3DS' and therefore my game's langage to English. It's just so weird playing AC in another langage! I bought several copies of Pok?mon in the UK (Platinum and White 2), I did learn some words, but it's really bizarre with AC.
And I just learned a new word: 'racks'. It's making me super happy. Oh and, 'meantime'. Yeah, big deal, big deal.

Ever tried playing ACNL in another langage? c:

I never tried it. I guess that would be under "Settings?" My husband is from the Netherlands but he always discourages me from learning Dutch. I don't know why - he just says that it would be a waste of time. But I think that if Dutch (or Nederlands, as they call it) would be fun for me to learn and then I could speak to his surviving family members in their own language, at least a little.

It's a great idea. Now, I'd have to see if Nederlands is a language available on the US 3DSXL. I would think so.

I'm glad you started this thread. :)

Well, technically I always play video games on another languages, my native language is Spanish, but I always play on English, I feel quite off when playing something on spanish, specially pokemon, I dont know which attack is which.

Watching movies/TV shows or playing video games you already know a bit is a great way to learn a new langage, in my opinion!
Good luck learning Dutch if you evenually decide to do it, and thanks for the nice feedback! :)

Yeah, it's sometimes complicated to switch back to your native language, I had a hard time with Pok?mon attacks as well, because I watched wifi battles on YT from American folks and I just couldn't tell what the French equivalent was x)

I play in Spanish ^^
But some of the words are a bit confusing lmao

My first language is swedish and my boyfriends english so as a joke I switched his ps vita into swedish (the settings that is) and he actually kept it cus he said it's helping him learn, even though the vocabulary may be a bit game-oriented :)

I have played in English, French and German and oh my god I cannot be bothered learning 3 sets of names for every. Single. Item. - Furniture, fish, bugs, clothes, those are the big ones.

I'd played ACWW all in English until then so I knew most of the English names of items, so when it came to doing Gracie's fashion check in another language and working out what I needed to order from the catalogue, I couldn't do it and mainly went back to English from then on.

Delphine I commend you for trying out the game in a new language!

Since I'm learning french maybe one day I'll try playing in that. :)

DLC is based on your 3DS's region. It doesn't matter what language you play in or which country you're in.
But with different languages you can get different in-game items such as the New Year items from Isabelle. And I think dates of stuff like Mothers Day changes?

I have never played a video game that was not an NA copy unless it was my desperate attempt to find something I want on the Apple App Store. Nor I have I ever changed the language (I did once actually on another game to make the game easier, but it was proven to be a myth). So no.

Would the dlc change with langauge ?

I can't remember who, but someone actually told me that changing the langage/region was a way to have special stuff like the berliner

Wow all those langages! Congrats! And thank you :D

Haha, it's always been the opposite for me! I'm Dutch, but I always play my games in English. When I was young, Dutch usually wasn't even an option so I had no choice there, but even though Dutch has frequently become an option in recent years, I never use it; it looks really weird to me.

Looking back now, I'm really glad I gew up with English games since it gave me a huge headstart in high school. And more importantly, it's allowed me to communicate with people from all over the world from a pretty young age. And I'm still learning, too. I always enjoy learning new words. :)

One of the most recent words I've learned is "ascribe". Really handy word, too!
