Music

And if you think my idea of good rock is too "mainstream" or "hip" or whatever... It's not.

You implied it. Your basically saying your music is good because it is not mainstream. Both you and Bul said it. Just because a band is mainstream doesn't mean its bad, that can go the other way as well.

all I did was come here and say that I like a bit of rock, and that I don't like classic rock, and instantly people jumped to pointlessly say that rock sucks and that rock is "inferior" to classic rock and jazz, totally missing the idea that I could possibly have my own opinion and think that rock is good.

Where did anyone say that? Like Bul said your taking everything personal.

Your basically saying your music is good because it is mainstream.

dude.. you're contradicting yourself.

first, you said that I was being stereotypical for saying (which I never did.) that mainstream sucked.

now you're saying that I think my music is better because it's mainstream!? WHAT THE HECK!?

my music is far from mainstream, and I like it that way. Irish Christian Punk Rock is NOT mainstream. Screamo is NOT mainstream. Most people have never heard of my favorite bands.

btw, when did I imply that the rock I listen to is mainstream? I made it clear that it wasn't.
and if you think my idea of good rock is too "mainstream" or "hip" or whatever... It's not. By a long shot. Last time I checked, Irish Christian Punk Rock isn't what's "in" right now.

as Bul would say.. do you even read my posts before you reply?

Actually yea I did. You, like you did before, didn't READ my post.

Your basically saying your music is good because it is mainstream.

Right there I meant not mainstream sorry typo.

my music is far from mainstream, and I like it that way. Irish Christian Punk Rock is NOT mainstream.

You like your music because its not mainstream? Good luck with that.

first, you said that I was being stereotypical for saying (which I never did.) that mainstream sucked.

Once again, I'll say you implied it.

as Bul would say.. do you even read my posts before you reply?

As Bul said, Your taking this too personally.

Hey Gremp... shut up... honestly. Take some pills and have a nap you're going to pieces over nothing. : \

Anyway as for whats progressing, i'd like to point out a couple things about a couple bands...

Weezer was amazing. For their debut album, it was all downhill from there, and now they're just another band that you hear all too often on the radio. Their first album was stunning though, unforgettable.

Foo Fighters... I'm a little iffy on them, they've had some great songs, I loved Everlong and Generator, but they've also had a lot of filler, so I can't say I like them all that well. They're not my type of band, I need something I can listen to the full album of and not have the urge to skip a single track. Most bands make albums full of half-assed attempts at music, then one or two really good songs. I cannot stand that at all... I want a full album of amazement, and some B-sides worth searching for.

I think OHE and Gremp both misunderstood eachother, then proceeded to try and e-maul eachother to death.

Hmmm this is kinda upsetting. Arguments over music that is really just about entirely opinion.... you kinda just go with what you can associate with yourself

I think there are some promising artists still out and some at least see the light of day on the radio occationally, I still really like the killers, Sawdust was pretty cool despite being remakes remixes and a few unreleased tracks. I also like one republic although the only song of theirs I have heard on the radio is the remix of their apologize song (which really only adds the "hey" in the background)

I have to admit no matter how you look at it, you normally just choose a band you liked at a younger age and after that nothing will seem as good to you. I think of it as the "back in my day" effect. People say violence is out of control these days when it has really been no worse and in some cases better. Fact i tht with the flow of information today you hear about it an awful lot more and with the advancement of weapon technology it can be worse single events.

Same happens with music. There are still some real gems out there but it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack at times.
