Snoop, "everyone adores"?

Why such strong words?
Madonna is timeless.
Nobody will ever be better then here in my opinion.
Yeah... in your opinion.

Which is why I asked...

Why use such strong language? Obviously, not everyone "adores" her...

Quote for the win, here.

Sometimes my tastes change a little, like I was a little funk or jazz, but I always enjoy my classic rock. Beatles, Queen, Toto, The Who, even the piano rock pioneers Billy Joel and Elton John, Led Zeppelin, are all going to remain eternally in my MP3 player

Exactly.
I tend to use strong words a lot.

Unless you mean Lady Madonna, a song by the Beatles, I disagree with you. Tastes differ, I don't care for Madonna.

Elton John...
He's a great musician but I don't like him much because of "other" reasons. <_<

Never heard of it.

Oh yeah, man. There are always those "musical periods" when you venture into unfamiliar musical territory, but the problem is, a lot of youngsters nowadays do just that. They don't listen to any music they'll like for years to come. They listen to what's "cool", what's "hip"...

But honestly, who cares what's "in"?

All I know is that my children will be growing up in a household where lots of different music will play, pretty much 24/7. The Beatles, Paco de Lucia, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joe Hisaishi, Gerardo Nunez, Vicente Amigo, Queen, Pizzicato Five, Savia Andina, Michael Tariverdiev, a ton of Russian music, classical music, etc etc etc...

This is music I've been listening to for my entire life, and I don't think that's going to change in the years to come. This is the timeless stuff.

And I don't care what others think of my musical taste. I honestly don't give a damn. Why other kids my age "go with the flow" is beyond me... it's stupid!

Pretty good band.

Don't even get me started talking about Queen...

I beg to differ. Classic rock isn't the only thing that can last forever... I've listened to Relient K and Flatfoot 56 ever since I heard them the first time, which was somewhere around 8-10 for Relient K, and I'll most likely listen to them when I'm like 40 xD

and if you think my idea of good rock is too "mainstream" or "hip" or whatever... It's not. By a long shot. Last time I checked, Irish Christian Punk Rock isn't what's "in" right now. Most people haven't even heard of Flatfoot 56, and look at me strange when I listen to it. My idea of rock isn't Fallout boy, my idea of punk isn't Green Day, all those are overrated. If anything is overrated, it's classic rock. Because people listen to it because they're "classics" even though it really isn't that good.

Dude, did you even read my post?

WHERE did I say that classic rock would be the only thing to survive through the years? Last time I checked, classical music has been going for hundreds of years... something no other genre can emulate.

And DUDE! I wasn't talking to you regarding the "hip" and "in" stuff... why are you taking everything as a personal insult? I was talking about the stereotypical tween or teen... a lot of them listen to the same crap. I wasn't talking about your personal tastes.

And you just freakin' reaffirmed my point... mainstream rock sucks. That was my main point; Green Day, Fallout Boy, whatever...

Hmm.... I'll listen to anything that meets my own set of standards. Mainly, intonation has to be decent. But my library mainly consists of technoey rockish type stuff. And classical! Can't forget about classical.

I actually like one or two songs by green day and fall out boy.
Gremp.. So what your saying is all mainstream music sucks. Isn't that a bit stereotypical? Just because two or three bands suck doesn't mean all do. I'm not saying I like it, but some of it is good. You can't just say that it ALL sucks because you have a different taste in music and you were brought up different.

Personally, I like Anti-Flag, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, Sum 41, Breaking Benjamin, Incubus, Foo Fighters.

Foo Fighters is a bit mainstream and it doesn't suck, same with Weezer.

No offense to you but your putting your opinion above everyone else like they don't matter. Just because a band is mainstream doesn't necessarily mean its horrible.

Bul, I agree with you 100% Music I've been listening to has been with me for atleast 3 years. Honestly, I hate rap, hip-hop etc. Its pointless, sexist, and has no instrumental music to it whatsoever.

Ooooh, I guess I stereotyped a little here too...

I guess not all main stream music sucks. I like one or two songs by Linkin' Park (Breaking the Habit is a great song), so...

But, I'm just saying, a lot of mainstream rock, rap, hip-hop, etc... is pretty bad.

ok... please tell me where I said that. I didn't. Last time I checked, Bul was the one saying mainstream rock sucked.
I'm talking about mainstream rock... the kind that's horrible any way you look at it.
Mainstream rock today is... obviously different.
And you just freakin' reaffirmed my point... mainstream rock sucks.

IT WASN'T ME. I never said anything along the lines of all mainstream music sucking, and he's been going around throwing that exact phrase around throughout the entire thread. So why are you calling me stereotyped?

The thing that bugs me here is that Bul isn't getting the point that the rock that I'm talking about isn't Mainstream rock. I listen to indie, punk, irish, grunge, hardcore, and alternative. Yet he doesn't seem to get the idea that I hate mainstream. Every point I made was ignored and passed over with a response saying "Mainstream rock sucks ^_^" I DONT FREAKING LISTEN TO MAINSTREAM.

all I did was come here and say that I like a bit of rock, and that I don't like classic rock, and instantly people jumped to pointlessly say that rock sucks and that rock is "inferior" to classic rock and jazz, totally missing the idea that I could possibly have my own opinion and think that rock is good.

EDIT: erm, disregard that bit about Bul being stereotypical... I made my post while Bul was making his recent post xD

Honestly? Wow... I hate Linkin' Park, most of there songs are just blah.. and go right through my brain..

I'd have to say my favorite band of all time is Race the Sun. I don't know a single person who has heard a song of theres.

I just hate people who go with whats "in" instead of being themselves. I honestly started crying of laughter when people did the the Soulja Boy(or whoever he is) dance in gym. People seriously care way to much of what others think of them.

I can agree with Bulerias. I'm not fond of how many people only listen to two or three groups that are completely mainstream. While on the other hand, a group of people are completely against mainstream. There needs to be people who listen to what they can get, and what sounds good to them. Finding a true good song (a band at that) is very difficult. The instrumentation has to sound pleasing. So do the vocals. Also, the lyrics are important to whether or not the song is good. Songs that mean something and sound good are the ones that will stick with us for time to come.

<3

Thank you.

I guess people who go with whats "in" need attention and can't help themselves. They need to meet other peoples standards instead of their own. They're called attention seekers.
