Music

I can't stand rock, Snoop. Well, the rock of today.

That's because today's rock sucks. I don't think it's possible to argue this... it's as though the musicians have lost touch with what made music so great back in the day.

Now they're all screamy... it's horrible. Where are the great vocals, awesome lyrics, catchy melodies, and interesting chord structures? All gone.
It always sucked.
By the way, who doesn't like Nelly Furtado and Michael Buble(sp?)!

How is that? Classic rock actually had strong classical roots, a little related to classical piano and guitar. These people knew great music. Mainstream rock today is... obviously different.

meh, I just don't like classic rock... I love loud music lol

I admit, there are only like 1 or 2 good rock bands right now, but honestly, I don't care "where today's rock came from". Classic rock is just boring to me. I really have a hard time believing that today's rock came from classic rock... they have almost nothing in common.... Classic rock is all bright and happy like some kind of kid's show... makes me want to hurl.

Now they're all screamy... it's horrible. Where are the great vocals, awesome lyrics, catchy melodies, and interesting chord structures? All gone.

1. screamy is good.
2. want great vocals? Daughtry and Nickelback are great, and they aren't all "screamy"... too bad Daughtry's been ruined by the evil known as Kidz Bop...
3. want awesome lyrics? Relient K. Matt Thiessen is one of the most genius song writers I know of. And btw, classic rock lyrics were terrible. They were all "I just wanna rock" "rock all night" "boogie oogie oogie" "*insert old slang term here* love" etc. Why was every single song about either rock itself or a love song that wasn't even relevant?
4. catchy melodies... once again. Relient K.
5. Interesting chord structures? wow, I wish I could find a way to tell you how hard I laughed when I read that... Classic Rock had the weakest chord structures I have ever heard, it was all some kind of hippie chord progression played by an accoustic guitar... *snore*. Listen to a single rock song and you'll find an amazing riff.

>_<

Haha, TheGremp, all rock has horrible chords. I mean, in comparison to modern-day rock, classic rock has a lot of interesting chord structures.

But they both pale in comparison to Brazilian music, which uses jazz harmonies, 9s, and what have you. Modern flamenco is also getting into jazz territory, so naturally it beats the crap out of rock, musically.

FINALLY!
I just thought of somebody who everyone adores!

MADONNA!

Who doesn't like her and her song "Like a Virgin"!
Speaking of virgins, I spent a full hour discussing sex and virgins today in school.

-Timberland
-Maroon 5
Maroon 5 I can listen to. Adore is a bit strong, however. [/quote]
I like "Won't Go Home Without You".
It's stellar! Even my friends think so!

well obviously, your opinion is better than mine, so I'm gonna go listen to some classic rock while trying not to puke on my keyboard, because apparently if I don't listen to that crap, I have bad taste in music.

btw, I use the term music VERY lightly, I don't know if I can call classic rock music...

...Whoever said you have bad taste in music if you don't listen to classic rock?

Don't put words in my mouth.

I said, IMO, it's superior to modern rock. But then again, jazz usurps both of them from a harmonic and melodic perspective... and this isn't an opinion, it's a fact. I've been playing all kinds of music over the years, including rock, and let me tell you...

99% of rock is harmonically inferior to jazz... and hence Brazilian and flamenco.

"Should"?

Why should I "love" what others "love"?

To begin with, these are artists you'll "love" one year, and then "hate" the next. What the heck? Good music stays with you for the rest of your life... that's what makes it good.

I'm not supposed to -- and hell, nobody is - like the same thing as everyone else. If everyone liked the same things, then nobody would have any individuality.

I guess your right.
