Music

I'm an Indie boy.

I like Indie(all of it.), Alternative(R.I.P. 198X-2005), Classic rock(60's-early 90's), Classic Punk(80's-early 90's).

It's a shame alternative died... Screw you Blink 18--, I mean, Angles and Airwaves.

Pop music is an utter joke (Britney Spears), as is 99% of "rock" music hitting the airwaves these days (Fallout Boy, anyone.)

I'd also like to point out that it is nearly impossible for a band to start out with nothing, in a garage somewhere, write a few songs, get them played on the radio, then gain national attention and popular status. It's all media corporations from start to finish for most "bands".

Music is dead, MTVH1 killed it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

And here I thought I was the only one with crazy notions. Turns out they might not be so crazy...

Most I listen to get attention on College radio then go up from there. Sonic Youth, Radiohead... Modest Mouse is about as "From Scratch" as I can think, they started out in a shed Issac Brock was living in if I remember correctly...

I'm into Hardcore, especially Underoath. A bit of 80's grunge and some rock, I also like punk rock(especially with bagpipes and mandolins... Flatfoot 56 ftw.)

no country, no classic rock, and ABSOLUTELY NO POP. Pitiful excuse for "music".

oh, and about TobyMac, (a bit far back in the topic, but...) most of "Momentum" was a strange kind of mix of rap and mono-tone shouting and a lot of techno. "Diverse City" was more on the rap side with a little bit of techno, and he obviously went more "organic" as he says it on "Portable Sounds". Less, shouting, more singing. Less amateur sound editing, more trumpets. I was disappointed.

:P

I know somebody who adores Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton.
I tell her she has a bad taste in singers.

Underoath is more emo than hardcore...

Also, how do you not like classic rock? Where do you think the bands you're listening to are coming from?

Yeah, I don't quite understand how people dislike classic rock.

That's like... the only good rock DD:

Beatles, Queen, etc... that's the good stuff. That's back when they had great melodies, awesome chords...

Simple.
Some people just don't like rock.
I enjoy pop, classical and techno a lot more than rock.

And the monstrosity Avril Lavigne. You may as well be listening to elevator music.

I can't stand rock, Snoop. Well, the rock of today.

That's because today's rock sucks. I don't think it's possible to argue this... it's as though the musicians have lost touch with what made music so great back in the day.

Now they're all screamy... it's horrible. Where are the great vocals, awesome lyrics, catchy melodies, and interesting chord structures? All gone.

There are plenty of great artists today, you'll just never hear them on the radio... The radio is reserved for bands like Green Day and Sum 41 who are so far past selling out it's disgusting. You've got to go underground if you want to hear anything good in rock.

Britney Spears lip-synced at all her performances, and Paris Hilton's album was a joke. She's not a singer, just a stupid whore.
