Quick poll on your museum filling habits, is everyone like me and prefers to only collect what is available on their island? Do you trade with/fish catch on other islands? Do you TT ahead to speed up what you can find?

No right or wrong way!

Side note, only fossil I have left is the brachio pelvis. It sounds like "braking your" to me, and always chuckle about waiting for "braking your pelvis". I dunno. My soul is 5.

I usually just wait, sometimes when I TT I accidentally get a species that is only available in that season, so every time I see pond smelt in my museum I see "December 29th, 2020" and just laugh. I did buy my last fossils from someone because I was eager to finish my museum. I also do go to other people's island for Redd paintings.

Edit: I should have just waited until I stopped TTing to donate the fish but whatever.

I really try to not time travel for the museum stuff. It's one of those things I really have no problem waiting for even as a time traveler (I usually only TT a week or so ahead before going back). If I happen to time travel ahead to the next month, I'll try my best to not catch anything

I don't time travel, but I have visited other island to obtain various things that are out of season c: I hated how empty my museum looked lol. To get everyone excited, my bug and fish exhibits aren't complete, but my fish exhibit is maybe 3/4 finished and it looks incredible, and frankly it will look so rewarding once we've completed it and I'm really excited for that! :D

Also, i traded quite a bit for fossils, lol. But from what I've seen, i still collect them and assess them before selling, I think I would've completed my fossil exhibit naturally by now or be very very close if I hadn't traded c:

i tt’d to summer for a bit so i have a couple of sharks in my museum but other than that, i prefer to catch things season-by-season on my own island ;u;

I like to use nook miles islands for fishing and catching bugs. I also will visit other islands for redd. I don't think I would trade for a fossil if I didn't have it, but if my friend offered it to me for free I would take it.

im not really one to go out of my way to fill up my museum, if I catch it and it's new then it gets added. but most of my days consist of trades, terraforming, and decorating so I have very few minutes dedicated to fishing/bug catching

I’ll probably trade for art, but everything I have donated so far is from my island, including all 3 pieces of art.

I just collect what is available on my island. I might have caught some things on the island of a friend, but I don't go out of my way to do so. I have a second character for Redd, and I will see how long it will take to fill the art section. Since there is only a 10% chance to get only fakes, and a 40% chance to get multiple real ones, it might fill up faster than I expected.

Mostly just wait for things to spawn except Art probably since Redd barely visits. For Bugs and Fishes, I do not even allow myself to catch when I TT villagers out. For fossils, completed everything myself so far, but it’s getting really tempting to trade for that 1 pachy skull I’m missing. It’s been weeks and I still haven’t found it.

i “stole” a ton of fossils from my friends, and I occasionally TT for fish and bugs when I’m bored. I just want a full museum okay

I found all of the fossils except two naturally, then traded for the missing ones. I found all of the art by time traveling back and forth one day when Redd appeared. Collecting all of the art naturally would take literal years - Redd comes so infrequently, and when I was going back and forth there were so. many. days where everything was fake or a repeat. But the bugs and fish I only catch on my own island when the calendar is synced with the real date and time. I want to enjoy catching them as they become available - it gives me something to look forward to throughout the year without what feels like a luck-based time gate :)

i always wait for it to spawn on my island.

however, i actually have a brachio pelvis on me that i can't donate because i already have it. would you want it? or are you also wanting to get it from your island?

I usually try to wait for it to spawn on my island for fossils. I sell my extras though whenever I can since the last few fossils are really frustrating.

I'll probably buy art when I can though from other people since Redd is extinct on my island and never comes.

Thank you so so much but I'm trying to bring patient. I'm just happy I found the left quetzal wing yesterday after 3 weeks with nothing new!

I waited for most of my fossils, but today i got impatient and now i only have two left. Art will take me forever so i'm definitely going to trade for it

For me, it's a combination of waiting for them to appear on my island and trading for them. I'm waiting on all the bugs/fish becoming available on my island, since it's a lot easier to catch them on my island any time I want, rather than having to go to somebody else's island and hope I can get them during the time I'm there. For the fossils, I got over half of them on my own before I ended up just trading for the rest I didn't have. While I'd like to get as much art as I can on my own island, I've already traded for some pieces of art, and will likely end up trading for more due to Redd not showing up as often as he should.

I enjoy visiting other islands to catch bugs and fish! I'm always either unlucky or have a really low island spawn rate for certain fish so sometimes it's necessary that I catch fish in other towns. There always seems to be one seasonal fish that just wont spawn for me on my own island... I missed the stringfish and I had trouble with the blue marlin. The other day my friend hunted weeks for a ranchu goldfish and ended up catching it on the second try in my pond. I'll probably hold out as long as I can to trade for fossils and art. I remember in New Leaf the art section was the second section I completed completely on my own due to how consistently Redd showed up. I know for sure that wont be the case for this game.

I have a self imposed rule that I can only fill the museum with items/bugs/fish that spawn locally on my island. Once, I visited my friend's island who is the same time zone/area as me (irl friend) and I was just fishing for funsies. I caught two new fish in a row and I felt so upset D: I wanted to donate them but I didn't catch them locally. So I literally went back to my island and went around fishing for the exact same fish so that I could donate it on the same day that I caught them XD Also, last night I had a nightmare. That I visited a time travelled island in the fall. And I caught an out of season bug. I was soo stressed out thinking I couldn't fix it. But it wasn't real thank god.. LOL
