Hi everyone. I have a question for the experts of the game who know each of its secret.

In my new game, I try to choose the location of my villagers by doing the "new player's technique".

I think a lot of people here are aware of this technique. When you know the date in which a new character is gonna move in your town, you create a new character and prospect the emplacement of your new villager. If the emplacement is good, you save, if it's not, you quit without saving and start again.

Here the problem : I have a precise area in which I want my new character to move in (a area of 7x7 approximately) but no matter how much time I reset, my new character (Chief) doesn't move in this area.

Maybe I have to be more patient, but I noticed something interesting... There are several very precise emplacements in which Chief wants to install his house. There are maybe 5-6 spots that are more recurrent than others. Of course, the emplacement change each time I reset, but there is a higher probability for me to find the new emplacement in one of these 5-6 precise spots.

I'm wondering if the emplacement for our villagers are EXACTLY RANDOM or if "more fertile emplacements" truly exist.
After all, my 7x7 area is clean ! There is no rock, no obstacle, I don't understand why Chief favors some places rather than others !

I'm not that expert, but I think if there are more villagers in one area, depending on the personality they may go there. And I think there are more fertile based on personality or something, my peppy is on the top, my normal villagers are south with everyone else. My jocks are also south.

Hm... Now you mention it... It's true that almost all the recurrent spots in which Chief wants to move are really near the river. Do you think guys it's really a matter of personality ? Cranky villagers prefer the river ?

I believe I have a cranky, I'll check.

Edit: Harry is cranky, he is in the VERY bottom right corner, BUT he is right below the river, very close to it, so maybe. Or it is a coincidence, like I said I'm not that expert.

Well maybe, Moe is right next to the cliff sort of, and When Olivia (snooty) moved in she moved EXACTLY where Becky (snooty) was.

Chief is to the left of my bridge :)

Nice house locations, did you plot reset for that large group?
I have five villagers hanging out near the bottom right, one right in front of my flower garden, one hanging out next to my grandpa and two hanging near the bottom left. One is up right next to the train station.

Edit: Back to the point, my personalities are sort of separated. My Uchi is the one next to my grandpa, my Peppy is the one up top, one normal is in the bottom right and one in the bottom left, one jock is on the flower garden and one is in the bottom left (my flower garden is in the bottom left a bit) My lazy is on the cliff side with the five clusters, my Cranky is right below the river in the five-villager cluster, and my Snooty and my past Snooty (Olivia and Becky) were both on a little cliff overlook. leaving out some but whatever.

haha I only plot reset for half, the others ended up in the right space because I forgot to plot reset so I was pretty lucky :) but they all like the river or cliff, but I like where they are, it's like a little neighborhood!

In my experience, villagers like to plot:

A: Where a previous villager moved from.
B: Near to existing villager houses/buildings/facilities/player houses.

Yah, it looks nice.
Possibly if the personality thing is true, the game randomly decides where personalities like to go on the first day or something. or we are wrong.

Yeah, the do like to plot near player houses. Lionel, Caroline and Beardo are all plotted around my mayor's house, but not directly in front of it. That would be Freckles. Who needs to leave. Ultimately if you are patient I think you can get a good spot, but I'd take a look at where he's trying to plot because he may put his house somewhere you didn't think of that works. In my town now there's not many other places for villagers to plot because of the way I have my pwps and everything laid out, so they'll either be on paths, which won't do or they have to go where I've left them space. I'm picking up Marshal soon so we will see how this goes.

I think a lot of the villagers like placement near the river. I also think some animals like to plot near the player houses. However there are Bam and Erik who are the exception to your theory. They placed their houses away from character's houses and existing river. Also Bruce's house is miles away from all civilization.

Bam's House is south of the middle bridge.
Erik's House is by the southern pond (he was here before my 2nd character)
Bruce's House is on the right side of Retail.

I didn't say that all the villagers want to move near the river/facilities/mayor house and all, I just think there is actually MORE chance for a villager to move in these places.

My cranky Walt is right near a river ._. Lobo.. Kind of. Is kabuki a cranky? He moved near my cliff that was near the beach. He was no where near a river
