Most bait used while trying to catch a fish?

Where do you catcha golden trout? I know it’s in a river but my cousin said that you get it at the very top, the third or second ground level, is that true or can it be any river?

it can only be caught on the rivers that are on the cliffs so your cousin was correct

I'm over 500 for giant trevally. At least my husband caught one for his own character and donated it to the museum, so I have proof that it exists. I just still want to catch it for myself so it'll be registered in my critterpedia.

I used about 300 bait myself for the mahi-mahi, the best tip I can give is that you use nook tickets (ideally during dreamie hunting) to find big fish island, itll make getting it far easier

Ohhhh, also is it still in season to catch? :’> *spring/summer time*

yeah! it’s available for two periods if i remember correctly - the first being march to may and the second being september to november ;u;

I used probably 60? 70? bait on a goldfish I needed to catch for a Tanuki Mileage+ quest back in March.

It was an epic struggle that ate up much more of my time than I'm comfortable admitting. Zucker sat by the pond I was fishing in the entire time, and provided moral support. He even clapped when I caught it, at long last!

However, the trials and tribulations of my quest for 200 Tanuki Miles came with a silver lining...

Apparently, up 'til that point, I'd never bothered donating a goldfish to the town museum. Thanks to that, I was able to donate the elusive little bugger to Blathers, and now I can visit it whenever I want. :)

I've used a good 300+ to catch the Mahi-Mahi. That fish is so hard to catch. Q3Q
But, I was able to catch it on a rainy day after taking about a week off of trying.

I'm not sure if rainy days increase the chances of catching fish, but I caught a Giant Trevally, and two Coelacanths that day, so it's worth a try? ;w;/

Σ(●゚д゚●) Thanks, I’ll try catching one before may ends ^^

I didn't count but the golden trout im sure I used a couple hundred for QnQ

about 500 to catch a gotdamn Char. I caught 4 golden trouts in the process.
lichrally what the hell.

and about 100-200 for the Giant trevalley. found 2 mahi-mahis and 4 coelacanths in the process lol
now I gotta find an angelfish and I'll be done with May fish

also, does anyone know why sometimes fishing bait just doesn't work? I've wasted probably multiple stacks on nothing because the fish just doesn't appear at all.

I did noticed that if I used fish bait too fast, it'd take a while for fish to spawn, but they never didn't spawn. D:

I think the Golden Trout is now out of season but Mahi Mahi is still around. I've given up searching for the MM, I can't face crafting the fish bait at the moment lol

Oh how annoying, I keep getting Angel fish and it's weird to think someone isn't getting any?

I think I used around 200 fish bait before catching the mahi-mahi. I distributed them in two weeks' time, because I got tired pretty quickly, so the most I'd do was 20-30 a day, and then that was it. The funny thing was I caught a giant trevally when I passed the 50 fish bait mark, and then I caught another one right before catching the mahi-mahi lol. Pier fish are extremely frustrating to get, and I don't have the patience to spend all day crafting fish bait. Luckily I think there are only four and I've got them all.

It currently takes me fewer bait to catch a coelacanth than to catch either a Mahi-Mahi or a Trevally.

I had a NM+ quest for a Mahi-Mahi and so I was trying to catch one. It was raining, but despite the boost, I ended up spending 100 bait with no luck.

On the other hand, I caught a coelacanth, an oarfish, and a barreleye in the process.

I have less luck / it takes me more bait for the big rare fish (and the barreleye) on non-rainy days and so I don't actively fish them then.

I remember that last month I used around 700 fish bait just to catch one Char, it was so difficult to catch, I don't even know why 😤

I'm currently at 580 fish bait used and I'm hunting the Mahi-Mahi

I've missed about 10 fish but they were just way faster than normal and I have a good reaction speed idk

I still have not got this fish. How many fish bait have you used trying to catch a fish?

Comparing my fishing experience as of right now to what it was before:

I have a feeling that a lot of my missed opportunities were and are indeed, the rare fish I had such a hard time catching.

I spent a ton of bait trying to fish for coelacanths in the rain and lost a lot of big shadows. I'd land, at most, one oarfish and that's it. No marlins, no tuna, and no coelacanth.

Nowadays, I consistently lose fewer fish and (coincidentally?) spend less bait to catch coelacanths in the rain.

the golden trout is still in season! I caught 2 recently while I was trying to get a char (the other two were found in march when I originally started my char hunt)

also yeah, it took me many stacks of fishbait to get an angelfish actually. probably about 70 fishbait now I think about it ;; I kept double and triple checking that I was definitely fishing at the right time, but I finally managed to get it.
I've now realised I dont have a snapping turtle yet either lol, despite how common they seem to be. I don't really fish at nighttime often tho so I think that's why
