At first, I was WAY too concerned with how my map looks. That's why I limited myself fro using very wide pathways. Then the Dream Island feature dropped, and just told myself, "screw it".
So long as my island isn't an offence to the eyes the map doesn't worry me at all. I think it is awesome when others have terraformed so that the map has specific shapes on it, that takes hard work and dedication. I have neither of those qualities when it comes to AC. AC is more of a villager and relaxing game for me so whilst I would like every aspect to be beautiful I don't see any of it happening any time too soon.
it low key bothers me when my map is ugly but not too much, so i don't bother decorating around it. i sort of regret not putting in game paths under my full tile custom paths, it's a city area so it looks a little off on the map because it looks like it's grass. idk. it's not a big deal but i have definitely contemplated removing everything just to redo it for my map to look more accurate.
I only care a little bit. I like the way my winding paths looks on the map, but I really only care how the island looks on my actual screen. I did at some point hide some path under bushes/trees/items to make a dotted line on the map along a custom path, I did like how that looked since it made the path visible. I might do that more at some point, could be a nice project
Overall, I really don't care if my map looks bad as long as my island looks good. If I have the opportunity though, I will try to make the map look good as well.
I honestly never look at my map. I usually just try to make sure that I can get from a to b easily, so it can look decorated but still be functional to play on. (Since I share my file with others)
I think having an aesthetically pleasing map would be ideal, but I don’t think I have the patience nor the commitment to see it through to the end. So currently I am letting fate decide how it looks. I am by no means anywhere near finished decorating/terraforming and I honestly don’t think I ever will be, so it will be a long while until I see the finished product of my island map.
