All mac's are made in the SAME factories HP's and Toshibas and every other laptops are made, in fact some HP's do have the same Aluminum/glass setup.

Anyway back to on topic, is there anything in the app store worth getting? How about something that will let me actually close my lid without shutting down?
The problem is, Apple's charging too much for some of the apps. One of the games on there is $14.99, however, it is only $2.99- on the app store on the iTouch App Store.

It's not Apple who sets the prices, it's the developers. And when looking at Apple's own apps, such as iPhoto, GarageBand, Pages, Aperture, etc., they're actually offering them at a discount compared to the retail disc versions.

It's basically like Steam for apps, yeah. Though the Mac App Store's interface isn't completely horrid like Steam's is (to me, at least =p).

steam was better before it got a facelift and went mac-friendly.

the interface itself isn't that bad.. the store page can be trying sometimes, but it does what it needs to. only real problem is the servers are down too often.

and i meant more about the in-house applications getting discounts. steam just got out of the holiday sales, where stuff was discounted errywhere.

I don't know what you're complaining about. Steam works fine for me. :P
Except for some TF2 servers, they usually don't respond when I try to join friends' games.

Regardless, I can see where they're going with this, but again, the prices are too high compared to the iTouch store. Even though the prices are made by the manufacturers, $5.99 for a $.99-$1.99 game is still a bit off. Just because it's on a desktop doesn't mean it has to be more money.

I probably won't get any apps for my computer, but I'm sure this is good news for people that will.

Anyway, I have a macbook pro and I enjoy it. I used PCs until I was in about 2nd grade because my school is mac based and I remember just enjoying them more. My dad used to be a PC guy and he fixes PCs at his law firm for a living, and is now a mac guy my brother used to be a mac guy but is now a PC guy, my mom isn't good enough with computers to be able to ever get any major change and is currently a PC user, and I myself am I mac person.

Also, no one has brought up that you are more likely to get viruses on PCs than macs.

Uh, not really. Because Mac applications are being developed for a bigger screen and, in most cases, have more content than their iOS counterparts, it only makes sense for developers to charge more for them, because more work is being put into the development of them. Yeah, some developers are charging a little too much more, but they definitely shouldn't all be the same price as their iOS counterparts.

did you really just say that? really?

i can understand if there's a lot more content in the game that they want to capitalize on their work. that's a totally valid point, depending on how much is added, and how much extra it costs.

but a bigger screen warranting a price hike? oh boy.
i bet it would suck if that were true. <3 my 1680x1050 res, but not going to pay a penny more just so i can take full advantage of it, when the same thing's being offered but at, say, 800x600, or 1280x1024
