The first time I decided to tt to get rid of my starter villagers to finally have a free space for my ultimate boy Pietro, Isabelle announces literally after the first timeskip, I have a campsite visitor (the third one ever). And who was there waiting at the campsite for me? Pietro! He actually decided to come to me on his own free will T_T
Mine has been insane. I got Marshal as my first camper and Diana after maybe 17 tickets of hunting? But the really lucky streak happened a couple weeks later.
One of my villagers, Hugh, had moved out, and I was hunting for a lazy to fill in for him. 7 tickets later: First thing I notice, this is a hybrid flowers island. Like not the usual hybrid island where it's a big lake. It's a normal island but all the flowers were hybrids. I freak out a bit, never seen it before. Then, I see little orange feet up on a cliff.
It's Beau!! I adore Beau; he's one of my favs from New Leaf and I am ecstatic. Invite him to live in my town. Rejoice. Next thing I notice: The shadows I've been seeing in the water are a little strange. They're all large. All of them. I think, no, can't be. Can't. It was. Didn't see a single tiny fish. I was on big fish island. With Beau. And Hybrid flowers. It was such a surreal experience. I started trotting the beaches chasing stuff away because I needed to catch a blue marlin from the pier. What's on the beach? A DIY recipe. For a wooden signpost.
And then the next day, Raymond was in my camp. I'm pretty sure I used up all my luck for years to come in those two days.
I got suuuuuper lucky and got Marshal in 4-6 NMT. I wanted to do a give away for him but my sister who shares my island w me absolutely adores the marshmallow squirrel, which was an even better win. I also got Coco through island hopping 12 NMT in. Testing my luck tonight for Diana
I encountered Marina on an island, and she was my third villager to move in if I recall correctly. I just wish that she could have her personalized interior, rather than the generic normal villager interior. But, she's one of my dreamies, so I'm very glad to have her regardless.
My sister found Raymond in our campsite, and he's grown a lot on me after moving in.
In terms of villagers I actually like, I think Roald was my luckiest. I haven't had very good luck with island hopping. In terms of "valuable" villagers, I ran into Sherb twice - left him the first time and invited him the second time thinking I can trade him in the future.
Campsite: none, I think I've had maybe two campers total, and that's including the first forced camper (Chadder). I have been playing since launch and TT frequently, so it's pretty amazing how few campers I've gotten.
I actually got lucky with some of my dreamies when I was out island hopping not specifically for them per se, but moreso just for cute villagers at the time so that I could trade them down the line for my dream villagers. I managed to snag Molly at 4 NMTs, Marshal under 10 NMTs, and Judy at 35 NMTs. Notable finds include Zucker, Merengue, and Audie all within 7 NMTs during the same trip (these were my starters, so Lady Luck was definitely on my side at the beginning). I have no reason to go island hopping or utilizing the campsite trick anymore, as I have achieved all desired villagers for my island.
I definitely used up all my luck when I was trying to find Raymond for my younger brother by way of the campsite. I literally went through two in-game calendar years and 73 villagers before I found him (he was the 31st smug out of a possible 34--RIP). It took about 2 days of non-stop TT'ing before I found him. Never again will I ever attempt such a feat, no thank you haha
The luckiest I've gotten? Well, one day, I set up one of the plots of land, then went to a NMT island. On my first island (which was a bamboo island), I found Bob. Of course, him being the fan-favorite, I couldn't resist and invited him to my island.
My first 3 visits with Nook Miles tickets got me Bob, Rosie and Kiki. I'd also adopted Marina from a Nook Miles island. I'd also met Audie, Merengue, Octavian and Zucker, but because I was looking so much for Raymond, I didn't adopt.
the first few villagers that i got from the mystery islands were fauna, whitney and marina when i needed to reach the 10 villagers limit. they're all still on my island and i'm not sure if i want them to go now
punchy (my favorite villager in the game) was my second ever NMT on a non-native fruit island! i got zucker on my fourth ever NMT and lolly through around 30 mins of island hopping haha
Found Whitney, Lobo and Skye with less than 5 NMTs and also got Marina in my campsite while I was doing the campsite trick. Sadly had to let her go since I already have 2 normals and I don't like her well enough to boot out my current villagers.
