Looking for help - New switch/island

Hi

My 9 year old had a switch lite and animal crossing new horizons (on a cartridge) she had a island which both of us use, under our own profile, she is the original islander. For Christmas she got a new Switch and when we put the card in, it is asking us if we want to move our island? She would like to start again and create a whole new island on the new switch but doesn’t want to loose her old island when she uses the cartridge in the lite (we are keeping both consoles). Is it possible to use one cartridge to have two separate islands on two consoles or will staring a new island delete the old one? We would really appreciate any advice.

Don’t worry the game saves to the console and not to the cartridge . You can create a new island on the new switch and the old one will be untouched
