Let's talk about Raymond... again :/

Of course, no matter what I do, I cannot escape this fiend. And, continuing the saga of "my-sister-won't-listen-to-my-advice-on-New-Horizons", she has jumped on the Raymond bandwagon. I didn't really care, initially... until she became a brat about it.
There are 3 types of players that I've encountered who want Raymond, and they all have very different traits...

The "forever friend" one
-Willing to pay 10 million
-Wants Raymond to live on their island forever
-Very sweet
-Gives him gifts not caring if it brings down his value, because he's never leaving, anyway
-Will do anything to obtain him

The "money" one
-Comes across Raymond in their campsite/while island hopping
-Takes him for the sole purpose of selling him (nothing wrong with this, go ahead and finesse Raymond all you like)

The "crazy" one (I've only come across one of these)
-Will murder a child and commit arson to obtain this cat
-Usually scheming and manipulative and WAY too obsessed with a digital animal
-Only wants him because everyone else does

My sister is slowly becoming the crazy one... overall, my goal of the game is to turn my island into a lovely place for villagers to live. Hers? VILLAGERS! She doesn't care about island ratings, DIYS, growing your island... just villagers! She barely started the game and her only focus so far is grinding to get villagers. I keep telling her she should step back a little and start expanding her island, but she isn't really listening :/ everyone's welcome to play the game at their own pace, but all she does is go and collect villagers and it's driving me mad!

LOL i have raymond and started to really like him (love cats) but i don’t think i fit in any of those categories. i wouldn’t pay so much just to have him. i got him from the campsite. but at the same time i wouldn’t want him to go yet just to sell him.

Haha yes! I respect the people that want Raymond because he reminds them of an anime character/need him for a cat island/like him not just because everyone else does, etc. I just HATE how insane and impatient some people are to get him!

Yeah, I’m not really any of the 3 either. I like Raymond a lot and won’t let him leave, but I’d also never pay for him. I found him on a mystery island and initially thought he was ugly, but he has grown on me since. He’s cute if you give him formal wear (the tailcoat, monocle, and black vampire costume all look great on him). He also plays K.K. Cruisin’ in his house if you give him a music player.

Honestly I probably wouldn’t care about him if he didn’t wear glasses.

i have raymond for one reason, to be the necessary evil on the island

i took me a while to get like 4 cats. i wasn’t in a hurry, as i’m currently enjoying my line up & going through different villagers as time goes on. i initially didn’t really like raymond because let’s be honest when the game was new, it has gotten annoying how we hear so much of him. who wouldn’t get sick? alas never thought i’d want him to stay so long.

also by the time he’d ask to move out, the value of nmts really went down. and i already have most of my dreamies so why bother join that exploitation for his demand lol.

Somehow, people are still desperate for him I'm so tired of having to politely explain to people reviving months old threads about selling Raymond in the New Neighbor Network thread that these were made MONTHS ago + the user hasn't been online since then

i dont know just let people play the game how they want?
if your sister likes to hunt for villagers then let her do that. she is enjoying the game in her own way.
and maybe when she has all the villagers she want then she will pay more attention to her island. or not. its her choice.

It's more the fact that she will not shut up about it/wants me to help her obtain the villagers she wants and is sucking up to me to get me to help her :/ a day goes by of her being a brat, and the next she's all sweet, asking if I know people who can help her get Merengue! When I call her out, she immediately goes on the defense. Sorry, can't help the fact I don't want to help you due to your terrible behaviour

yea i get that. im not sure how old your sister is but maybe show her this forum or some other website where she can find villagers and then tell her she is on her own haha or tell her she has to find them in game on nook miles islands herself

Anyway, it sounds like your sister has her own game, so I'm not sure what the big issue is? If she wants to put all her focus on villagers, and that's how she enjoys the game, that's on her. Just tell her you can't help her and don't wanna hear about it. And repeat X1000 until she gets the point.
(also, she's twelve- I guarantee you I did dumber/more obnoxious stuff at that age )

I have raymond because I had an open plot and saw someone selling him here for cheap, I just went and got him. Now he's a permanent resident.
People play this game with different interests, like outside decor, inside decor, museum, villagers.. Lot's of people care more about the villagers than any other aspect of the game

That's where I am, lol. I love him because... his design is super cute. I love the mismatched eyes and hair and expression. But I'm not going out of my way to pay a fortune for him. I also don't get the maid outfit thing. If/when I get him, he will NOT be getting a maid outfit

Yah, buying any villager for real life money is absurd. I mean, unless you're buying an Amiibo, because then you have unlimited access to the villager.
Man, can you imagine if they released a Raymond Amiibo? I think it'd bring his value/price down in general.. but HOLY COW would that be a valuable Amiibo

I think I would be labeled as another option.
I really want him on my island. He most likely would be there forever. However, I definetly won’t be gifting him things to mess up his enterior. I also won’t be spending money, or 100+ tickets on him or do anything to obtain him. I’m pretty much just here waiting for him to appear on an island or my campsite by luck.

Yah, buying any villager for real life money is absurd. I mean, unless you're buying an Amiibo, because then you have unlimited access to the villager.
Man, can you imagine if they released a Raymond Amiibo? I think it'd bring his value/price down in general.. but HOLY COW would that be a valuable Amiibo

It would be to buy the Amiibo... And the hype at first? YIKES! I'm guessing the card would potentially sell for hundreds- at least at first.

But, at the same time, there are tons of people who cycle through Amiibos and sell the villagers from them. I'm sure some people would start cycling Raymond and, eventually, his value would drop a lot.

So it'd be nice in the long run, I think. Provided you just want Raymond, and not the Amiibo. If you wanted the Amiibo itself... I'd have to wish you luck

I have Raymond but it’s because I have a cat island and I got him because his eyes are like my cats eyes and he’s pretty cool I don’t fit into any of those things lol
