Isabelle for me, I feel like she doesn't fulfill any important role in the game at all (Tom Nook could have done the daily announcements) and it gets boring real quick to hear her ramble on about her TV habits or some other unrelated thing.
Maybe I'd like her more if they let her drop a hint on who the daily island visitor is.
Agreed! Why does he ask twice! if you want to visit someone online or always reminds you that you have a nmt in your pocket?! I freaking know that.
I also don't really like Sahara because she visits my island way too often.
CJ. idk, he isn't very charming to me unlike flick and daisy mae, who i really like. to be fair, i didn't like whatever his name was that had CJ's role in previous games, but yeah no CJ's personality is a bit weird or bland to me so I don't care too much for him
Daisy Mae is my least favorite. Her existence doesn't bother me, but I don't go out of my way to talk to her, either. Of course I'm going to have to start buying turnips from her because the Nook phone gives you points for buying turnips from her over time.
Label. She... doesn't really do anything interesting... :/ I just skip her since I find her clothes kinda meh. If she had like crazy cool and unique clothes exclusive to her I'd be down for it but yeah. Her "brand" is kinda plain and dull for me.
labelle or orville. Labelle for her useless prizes and being a waste of space when other more important npcs can be there and orville for his long useless dialogue.
In past games? Kapp'n. He was such a creep, hitting on characters that are supposed to be little girls. His songs were also annoying. I'm glad he isn't in NH. Phyllis is another one I disliked as well because she was just unnecessarily rude. Also glad she is not in NH.
I never liked Redd but he is a useful character unfortunately.
In NH I have to say:
Wisp is unnecessary and finding his spirits is annoying because they are always hard to find.
As much as I love Isabelle as a character and it pains me to say this since I was like obsessed with her before NH, I have to say her. She is so useless in the game and her morning announcements are annoying. They could have her announce meteor showers, Redd being on your island, or other vendors, or just not speak when there is nothing to announce. I loved her in NL and Smash, but in this game I am sick of hearing about her television shows and socks. It doesn't help that villagers give her all the credit when Tom Nook and I are the ones working hard to keep the island together.
I have gripes with most of them. However, it's more because of the way they are implemented than their actual character. It's mostly the way the travelling merchants are handled, honestly.
Isabelle - She more or less does the sam she did in NL minus the construction stuff, which is now in Nook's responsibility. I wish her anouncements were more useful. She really should let you know about the visitor. What's the point otherwise. I feel like half the stuff that is news-worthy she just ignores...
Kicks - His existance is entirely pointless. Since the Able Sisters now sell footwear, he's no longer needed. The few exlusive shoes and the pouches he sells could just as well be sold by the Able Sisters. Give some unique purpose that gives us a reason to look forward to his visit. For example, he could polish our shoes like he did in City Folk and that would allow us to run faster or something like that...
Label - Same problem as Kicks. She feels redundant and should be integrated into the Able Sisters. Ger rewards don't feel like rewards. The voucher is little useful when it caps at 3000 bells and only applies to one item. Half of the time you end up wasting the value because most clothing items are either slightly more expensive than 3000 bells or significantly cheaper. Her exclusive clothes are underwhelming and look like something you could replicate with a custom design. They remind me of those really pricey brands like Lacoste. Like these plain white shirts that look super boring, whose only unique trait is the brand they are sold under...
Leif - He needs more exclusive items. While the flowers and shrubs are very useful in the beginning, they are of little significance once you got them all. They could at least make his stock a little bigger. For example, let him sell foreign fruit, so players without an online-membership can get foreign fruit and don't have to be taunted by DIYs they will never be able to craft.
Oh, or fertilizer. That would actually be useful. Or bamboo-sprouts. Why did the they give the bamboo to Daisy Mae? It makes no sense.
Redd - He's the worst offender. Way to rare for something that is required to complete the museum. Rarely shows up and on top of that may offer nothing but fakes. Make him a guaranteed visitor so he doesn't have to compete with the others and so many issues people have with this system would be resolved.
Celeste - She is even worse, but easier to ignore if you dont care about her furniture. Still, there is an absurd amount of DIY-recipes locked behind her. You never know when, or if she shows up because of the way she is tied to the meteor showers. My town rarely gets any meteor showers so I hade her like 3 times since launch. She gave me zodiac-DIYs, which is nice, I guess... IF I could craft them that is. Because these zodiac fragments are stupidly rare and seasonal on top of that...
The rest of the NPCs are okay in my book, but those mentioned above need some major rework.
Kinda start to dislike Isabelle, but only and mainly because of her announcements, which are just stale and annoying at this point. Wouldn't mind if Tom Nook taking over again, at least his announcements at the beginning of the game were short and on point without boring "bla bla bla".
CJ oh lort he's just so annoying which is a disappointment considering how much streamers have only increased my love/interest/passion for the animal crossing franchise as a whole.
