I always thought that ketchup and tomato sauce were the same lol, just named differently in different regions.
In australia, we put tomato sauce (ketchup) on sausages/hotdogs etc, and the stuff you put on pizza bases we call pizza sauce or sometimes tomato paste. :)

AHahha me too! xD

To my knowledge Ketchup contains distilled vinegar and corn syrup. While tomato sauce does not. Ketchup is used as a condiment for hot dogs, fries and etc. While tomato sauce is used for pastas and such.

Wait... I was expecting to come in here and be scolded the same way I was by my Australian friends and even once and English friend. They told me ketchup is only American and how stupid I was that I didn't know that Ketchup means nothing to them and turns out it's something for you? What the hell is wrong with your neighbors throwing down like that at me when it's actually something to you?

Lol I didn't think anyone would respond so I ranted in there. UH yeah, I got told off by Aussie & English friends before, very rudely might I add, since I simply asked if they ate any sort of ketchup and they were like ew how DARE you ask me if I eat such a thing.
