I'm struggling to decide whether or not to keep my current town or reset it and start fresh.

I love my current town and I've had it for six months. But a few days ago I was stupid and cheated to get some items and speed up my landscaping. Ever since then I've felt like I've ruined my town because I didn't get the items naturally and I can't shake the feeling!

A fresh start might be nice but I really can't be bothered being new in town. It'll also take me at least two months or so to get the garden store with bushes and start landscaping and I feel like by the time I've started really developing the new town, the switch version will probably be on the horizon and I'll leave it behind anyway.

What would you do?

Don't restart. It's perfectly normal to feel guilty for cheating in items, but it's not much different than buying them from someone else. Learn from mistakes. Next time, buy your items off another player. It isn't like you altered your town's layout to something unrecognizable or not even possible by the game's logic!

Personally, I'd restart. Once I've cheated I can't shake the feeling. Depends on what you value more, of course.

I'd restart too. I haven't really cheated before, but I did buy my entire town landscape from other people and I regretted that. This time around I've bought a few things but not anywhere near enough to feel guilty.

I wouldn’t restart, myself? Depends on what you want to risk for easing that bit of feeling.. do you have a map you really like and can work with? Villagers you want & would likely have to cycle for or buy back? Non-reorderable items and such?

Granted, my perspective is that of someone who doesn’t have many qualms with cheats, so it’d come down to what you’d wind up losing vs gain of having a fresh start |D

I thought it was just me who felt this lol, I normally restart because the feeling never goes away. Also, it may give you stuff to do until the Switch version is out, it'll probably be a minimum of 4 months before the Switch one releases and 4 months is a lot of time to work on your new town.

Alternatively if you're not short on money you could get a new copy altogether, there are lots of cheaper ones out there now.

I admit I have *cheated* before, so you already know my views on that, but I'd say keep the town. There's nothing wrong with wanting to speed things up a little, esp if you play in real time. Instead admire your landscaping work. If it really bothers you, just dig up and/or sell what items you got to cheat and get them throu the game again. It really isn't worth it to restart an entire town and potentially lose everything, villagers, items, map ect... esp when it's somethin so small as what I assume was duping.

Maybe leave it a few more days and if you really can't get rid of the feeling then restart? I wouldn't rush into any decisions, especially if you love your town - you may end up getting used to it and the guilt might go away.

You KNOW you want to restart. (grin)

I think you should do it!!

But then, I do a lot of restarting and love doing that. I like the beginning parts of the game so much, because there is more to do.

I would keep your town, especially since you already put so much time into it. Also, don't feel so bad about speeding things up a little. I do it quite often and don't regret anything. I mean, I used to, but I eventually found a way to get passed it. :)

Thanks for all your advice! I have a second copy of the game so I've decided to make a new town on that copy and see how I feel about it. If I find a great town I might just stick with the new one, but if I don't feel the same about the new town then I still have the old one to go back to!
