The nostalgia!

How many of you have played the 2001-2004 version?

What are some of your favourite memories from it?

I love how the cranky villagers can be so mean.

I wish, I want to play it haha. Animal Crossing New Leaf is my first Animal Crossing game however.

Not me. WW was my first game, which I got at the end of 2007. I tried to play it again a few months ago, but it just looks horrible now that I've gotten used to NL. :p

I played it.

Easily the 2nd best Animal Crossing game, mostly because of the villager's dialouge, its events, and for having IMO the best soundtrack in the series.

That part where Resetti fake-resets your gamecube. I remember the jaw-dropping shock I felt, then the pure hatred my young self developed for that butt. :(

My first animal crossing game was WW, which I got a bit later after it came out! I cant play it now though, just because it looks so bad and is pretty limited. I do have the Game Cube Version, but I haven't played it much because it feels unnatural for some reason. Idk i always thought i felt better as a handheld game. : p

OMG I LOVE THE GAME CUBE VERSION!!
I remember trashing my brother's town because we left both the memory cards in the slots and my fave villager moved to his town.

AC:GC was my first AC game, and I thought it was great! I felt really accomplished getting all the upgrades. One thing I miss is the dumping ground where I could find random items each day.

AC:PG WAS THE BEST!!! I used to love playing the original Donkey Kong simulator. I especially adored keeping a diary. I really wish they had kept that option available in the other installments.

awww man I loved the diary feature thirteen year old me kept up with that religiously. the soundtrack is pure gold too. *-* I miss the fountain in the middle of the square, and tbh I actually really liked the acre system. also the ponds and the tiered levels.
and having all four houses in a cute little pavilion.

although I don't miss the closest. we used to have entire acres that were "item storage" and were NOTHING BUT BURIED ITEMS. that was brutal.

I remember actually dreading talking to the snooty/cranky villagers because they were so much more harsh. I kind of like that they were toned down, honestly. I like that the cranky villagers just ended up being mildly irritable old men and the snooty villagers are still condescending but not so much so that you're deterred from interacting from them. Definite improvement there, imo.

I definitely don't miss having to do that little skip/load thing between each square of the map... but I do miss those lil police dogs being able to tell me EXACTLY where certain visitors were at any given time!

Gamecube was my second AC game, first being WW.. loveeeeddd it, only thing that bothered me was the screen movement :/

I loved that game, it was my first animal crossing! My first file was deleted on accident so the second wasn't as magical, but it was still nice
I went back to it recently as well and I can't imagine why I liked my villagers. They were all so mean! I feel like I got the pick of the litter!
Maybe not seeing me for all this time has made them bitter...
I do prefer the new animal crossing but the old soundtrack was amazing and it would be cool if they sold the CDs in game :)
