Issues with custom Paths and "The Path"

So I've gotten to the point where I need to start working on paths for my island. I'm going for rustic, natural, surf town and the infamous Path design I think works well with my theme. However I'm always disappointed with how these custom patterns look in game, especially the ones that are very complicated color and shading wise, because they look rather pixelated especially in the evening lighting which is when I play the most. Does anyone else notice this or am I just being too picky. I really like the Path but it suffers from this problem and doesn't look as believable as it does in pictures which kinda takes me out of my town.

I do find that the custom paths for things like rock, brick, and dirt look very flat in the game. I haven’t used the path but on dream islands I did notice the version I saw looked painted on the ground rather than being a different texture/ three dimensional like the dirt and sand paths. It didn’t look bad! Just different. It kind of reminded me of a board game map (in a pretty way)

The definition/ shading and contouring is less sharp with even the best custom designs. I think it is something worth living with if you really find a design you love and that others aren’t bothered by it the way you might be when trying to perfect your vision for your island. As someone said on another thread, there’s always little things that aren’t perfect when you are designing your island, pieces that don’t fit together or flow exactly as you’d like but no one is expecting that, and the imaginative leap is part of the fun.

Personally, I found it did bug me on my own island, where I am constantly nitpicking, and I stick with the base paths 90% of the time.

Neither option might be perfect but either way you can end up with an island that makes you happy!

I feel like any custom design is going to have issues with the change in lighting.. perhaps choose the one that looks best at your favorite time of day?

I dont use The Path but I am struggling too with being nitpicky with custom paths (to the point where I just made my own custom paths because I couldn't find the right path for my island). I'm using a "transparent" path whose colors blend with the arched tiles, and the lighting between day and night changes the look so much. I have the same problem with the path looking uglier in nighttime, but during daytime it looks perfect.

I also suggest to just choose one time of the day your island looks the best if you're hosting an island tour or setting up your DA.

I am in the middle of laying down the path around my whole island. So far no problems I changed it from the nookmile unlockable terracotta path to a light sand version of The Path with tiny flowers as boarders. My island looks so much nicer cause now its not all thick lines of the terracotta everywhere its all soft and relaxed (if that makes sense) and I can add flowers and bushes next to, around the path.

Yeah, I noticed it too. I was going to use the path, but because of the shine it gave off at nighttime I've chosen to just stick with the original paths they gave us. Can't stand the reflection sadly, haha.

actually i liked the path. compared to other custom paths, it looks a bit realistic and more natural.
