I named my island Serenity because I wanted to have a sailor moon vibe but it doesn't fit at all with what I did with my island, rip. Also everyone and their mom's island is named Serenity.
A ticket to rename our islands would be super cool, just make it expensive so you can't do it that often I guess? What do you think?
Even tho I won't rename mine I think that'll be a pretty good idea tbh, it's a pain to choose an island name you liked first but eventually hate because it just doesn't fit with the theme of your island, better pay an expensive fee than completely reset your island and lose all the progress you made...
Serenity is definitely better than anything I came up with when I was younger lmao. I reset 4 separate times in NL and every time I ended up regretting the name "Epic" had to be my worst one. thanks 11 year old me, very cool.
I'm very happy with my island name because I spent lichrally months debating on it before the game came out but I absolutely understand how you feel from my very painful past experiences.
since you're allowed to literally shape the land around you to your desire and move almost every building I definitely think you should also have the authority to change the name of the island. it happens in real life anyway I got no idea why this isn't already a feature lol
Serenity is a good island name. Fits a resort, or a camp, or a nature park. It fits natural islands with a rustic vibe too. If you don't mind telling, what did you do with your island?
Renaming your island would make it slightly harder to keep track of scammers etc. in well-moderated communities. But they can already restart their islands, change their friend code, make a new account, etc. (That's partly why island name is used to keep track of those people, but it's not infallible, since there are some common island names.) I think the happiness brought to people by being able to rename their island on some sort of limited basis would outweigh the problems. Plus, there are many players who named their island coronavirus-related things who are going to end up regretting it, imo (I think some of those people will still play). This is actually the strongest reason I think we might actually get this feature eventually.
It might require some changes to the code, though (I read that you currently can't even change your island name with a hack without it basically breaking and not recognising you as a resident). But I hope it does happen eventually. I'm happy with my island name, but I know many lose interest in theirs, and resetting your island shouldn't be necessary imo. I like your idea of using Nook Miles.
I would love to be able to do name changes for sure! I'm not sure it would happen though, cuz I think the whole reason you can't just change your name/island name is so that you can't scam people and then just change your name and do it over again.
