Lol at the beginning, I would still say mayor XD. The friends i played with never played AC before so i felt weird and changed the habit. Now i just say "my main" or "player character." Island rep just feels so foreign to me still haha. It's the same thing how I prefer being called my second name irl but no matter how I try to tell people to call me that instead, they never do cuz they're not used to it and even I feel weird and fake being called my second name since I've been called my first name all my life. I'm not used to it. It's very strange how words and names just stick with you. It's hard to change habits sometimes XDI try to say "island," but yes I'm so used to calling it a town from CF, WW and NL. Typically I now resort to just calling the downtown area within my island the "town," while the island also includes neighborhoods, a countryside and a forest. The animal residents are still "villagers" to me, though, because that's the common term for them in the AC community.
It was a pet peeve of mine when we were waiting for the new AC to come out and people referred to the human characters as "mayors," but I suppose if NL was your first AC I can't fault you for that. Also "resident rep" is a mouthful
