I was skipping days to mature my trees, it was night in-game and I didn't think villagers could move out at that time, let alone even tell me... as a Result my beloved Genji is now in the void... this also happened with tom ive achieved what players would achieve in a year in under a month.... The guilt is destroying me inside and I often contemplate resetting... I feel like I've cheated and I don't deserve what I have... someone re-assure me Time traveling Isn't wrong, cuz it sure feels wrong...
a ton of people tt when they play acnl but u gotta be skilled at it?? lmao idk ive been tting since 2013 and nobody has ever moved out for me. but then again i only tted one day and not like weeks. but yea it depends on how you play theres no wrong way to play
Think of it this way, if Animal Crossing makers did not want you to time travel, don't you think they wouldn't make it this easy to!? Like some people mentioned above, there are consequences to time traveling, you just have to learn your loopholes around it so that you don't lose any beloved villagers
Don't feel bad or guilty! It's just a game; it should be played however it makes you happy ^-^ <3
A few months ago I just TTed in my spare town to get everything unlocked. It was my 5th town and I've been playing for 3 years.
I wasn't worried about villager leaving.
I also did a big time jump in my guest town a few days ago. Stopped a mover, jumped ahead and than stopped a mover when I arrived. If you stop a mover before you time travel you wouldn't lose a villager.
In my main town I don't time travel. Just change the clock if it's an event day. Everyone has real life stuff going on and can't always play in real time.
Lots of people time travel. It can be considered cheating, yes. I did time traveling a lot, up until the year 2020. I lost 4 of my dreamies and finally decided to set time back and now I no longer time travel. I contemplated resetting but I had worked very hard to get all the things I had.
I mean . . . yes and no? I think it might technically be cheating, since you're manipulating a feature of the DS to play the game in a way different from the way the developers intended. But it's a morally neutral sort of "cheating" – time traveling isn't actually wrong, and you have nothing to feel guilty about. You should play Animal Crossing in whatever way makes you happiest, as long as it doesn't harm anyone else.
That being said, I do think you should consider no longer time-traveling. Not because time-traveling is inherently bad, but because it seems to be bad for you and your love of the game. Whether you ultimately choose to reset or to stick with the town you have, it sounds like you, personally, do not enjoy the fast-track Animal Crossing experience. If it's bringing you this much misery, why not just give it up? Play without time-traveling? Based on what you've said, it sounds like you'd feel more satisfaction that way.
It's definitely NOT cheating. Animal crossing is such a slow paced game that for me it can get boring pretty quickly. I used to get a lot of hassle from people telling me that tting was cheating, but it's just how I enjoy the game. When I was really into it a few years ago I would go through around a week in a day depending on what there was to do. I got the game in nov 2013 and by some point in 2014 it was 2016 in my town and tbh that's just how I enjoyed the game and the game allows it- otherwise it would just use the ds internal clock so it would be more difficult to time travel or do what it does on tomodachi life and acknowledge that you've changed the clock and disable a few features as a punishment bc tomodachi life isn't meant to be time travelled but its not necessarily that animal crossing is, but it isn't not either, see what I mean?
ACNL isn't a contest, it's something to do to make you happy. It doesn't matter that you got what some players would get in a year in just a month or a few weeks or whatnot, you should do whatever makes you the happiest.
If it's making your experiences with ACNL less fun to TT, then I would suggest stopping, and maybe resetting if you feel the need to do so. But honestly, if it's about being fair to other players, it doesn't matter because it's not a contest.
I find flawless TT'ing a real awesome skill. Wish I could do that. I don't view it as cheating at all. It's mastery and you're playing the way you want to~
No, its not cheating. The way I see it is there is no really way to cheat at this game, we all progress at different speeds anyway.
Time travelling is very much allowed in this game since the option is always there every time you load up.
Just play how you enjoy. If it wasn't for changing the clock I wouldn't be able to get very much done with the times in free to get on the ds to play.
Thank you everyone for re-assuring me! I often thought to myself 'its not cheating if its an option in the game & its my game and I should play it the way I want', and now that I see others think that too it makes me feel a lot better! from now on every time I TT I will talk to my villagers to make sure they wont move and travel one day at a time! This community is so Kind and understanding and I'm glad I joined!!
