I remember in New Leaf, when you went to a friend's island and they had a villager moving out, they moved in, whether or not you talked to them when they were thinking of moving. I hated this feature. Is it in New Horizons? And is there a way to prevent it?

It probably is but as long as you don’t have an available plot it shouldn’t be a problem.

I think the "void" is still a thing, like when you visit someone whose villager moved out they will go into your void and they'll be your next random move-in.

Yes. and it works the other way around too. I opened to let people visit Celeste, and I got a villager from a town I don't recall visiting.

Oh wow, that sucks. I guess I better not have friends over till I have ten villagers.

Can confirm this is a thing! I had Hamphrey move in the other day and he said he was from another town (specifically mentioned an island name and player name). I've been playing online a bunch and didn't specifically adopt him.

Oh no... they made the feature even worse... I mean I guess it could be good if it is a good villager.

Does anyone know if this feature is affected by the villager trading glitch?

I think it does. I moved Hippeaux out if my town and into the void my most recent move out and was back at 10. I had a friend over who hadn't yet finishing setting up the rest of her total 10 plots. She mentioned to me about getting some ugly villager. When I went over for a visit, I saw that she got Hippeaux. What makes me think that it caused by me, was the fact that he recognized who I was and my island.

I'm getting New Leaf flashbacks, when I got my friend's Teddy in my town...
