After a long hiatus, I decided to return to new leaf for the update.

I'm looking for opinions and would like to know if this is a good map, the retail, town tree and the campground are all together in the same place and the train station is green, my town fruit are apples.

I think the map looks good. No odd placement of the primary buildings or pond. It really comes down to if you like your map.

I'll be 100% honest here. From what I've gathered I don't like when the town plaza is extreme north next to the train tracks it feels cramped. (Although when in a centralized location the town plaza can make a town feel smaller so it's all about balance.) Then you've Re-tail directly adjacent which is a bit odd and a vertical bridge which personally don't sit well with me. There's 3 ponds which is going overboard as far I'm concerned but there's no doubt you could make it work. The beach is split which I don't care for but ultimately it all depends on your own personal preference and what speaks to you as a mayor.

I wouldn't say it's a good map (my opinion)

There's no such thing as a perfect map as that's entirely subjective, what's perfect for you might not be perfect for others and vice versa. So if you like the map, I'd say go with it!

In my opinion it's not too good. I have high standards for maps and usually pass on those with plazas by the train tracks and re-tail/town hall not close to the station. I'm also not a fan of ponds, especially when they repeat the same shape. But that's just me, if you like it and find it perfect then go with it.

In my opinion I think the map is ok. 3 ponds is a lot, retail is really far and the tree area is a bit close to the rails (gets in the way for decorating since I have a similar situation with this). Space wise I think it looks good. Again, it's up to you to make the decision.:)

Damn now im rethinking my map lol

I would love it if Retail and town hall switched omg

It's one I would keep, but then, everyone has a different idea of what a "good" or "perfect" map looks like...

It all depends on whether you yourself like it or not. As someone already pointed out, there isn't such a thing as a perfect map. That said, I think yours does look really good. I like the river shape, ponds and locations of your permanent buildings. There doesn't seem to be any places who would be awkward to landscape (if you care about that kind of thing). Besides, it's not as much how your map looks like but what you make of it!

I would keep it if I was you. I've been very picky with maps in the past but I really like how yours looks. My mind's already buzzing with ideas on what I'd do if that was mine, lol. Anyway, good luck whatever you decide to do. :)

I like it, especially the tree off to the side like that. I have a centralised plaza and my map feels so small and cramped. I wish I had just stuck to my gut and chose a map where it was out of the way like in my first town. I like how the north side is larger than the south side (because I like to plant a ton of cedar trees), and how the beach is split. Three ponds is nice too.. I donno why people hate on ponds so much. They're so pretty to landscape around. Ok I actually love this map!! The only thing I'd say I dislike about it is the fact that you mentioned it has a green station. I'm not super picky with my layouts but I only accept red or brown stations ;)

As others have said before me. It's all totally subjective. Personally I hate having a split beach. I prefer to walk all the way along it when catching fish. I do like that Re-Tail is close to the train station as it's easy for friends coming to sell/buy. Other than that it's whatever rocks your boat.

not by my standards. my standards are:
one long strip of beach, at most a small island left (mandatory. needed for fishing, i find this far more convenient)
centered town tree (mandatory. didnt used to be, but i found myself hating it noncentered)
not many lakes (depending on how many, may be a dealbreaker)
convenient path layout (if i start laying down paths and too many rocks get in the way/lakes i may reset)
cherry as fruit, but ill settle for anything, just i prefer cherries. (my town has pears.)

imo my town has an almost perfect layout, but thats by MY standards. maybe try making your own standards/requirement list and see what you want out of your town?

I think one thing it really depends on is, are you planning on making a path? I find that my town is extremely badly laid out for paths and it's been very hard to figure out, I'm no where near done laying out my path, I hadn't thought about town layouts when I started and I could never ever bring myself to restart my game so I will have to figure it out lol, really though any map can be good if you work hard enough to make your town the way you want it despite having a bad layout if you have one! I'm not sure what makes a good map but yours doesn't seem to bad, although if you plan to make a path the house placement of your players home may be problematic, I'm not sure

That map is really beautiful. I decided to play with whatever the game gave me. I wish I would have picked a map with 3 ponds like that. I also have like 6 rocks, which makes PWP placing really difficult. Then when the update came with the campground, the campground was placed in the most awful place. I love how that campground is next to the event plaza and retail. It's sweet

My map would fit your standards pefectly, haha. I don't personally really like it though.

I feel like if it is perfect to you, then it is perfect.
By my personal standards, I think there are quite a few things wrong with it.
Like how others are mentioning the split beach, that would upset me as well.
For me, the deal breaker would be that there are too many ponds.
I feel like they would get in the way from a lot of my building. Also with quite a few ponds, you have to remember there are still rocks out there that will also take away from how you want things to be built.
But like I said, if it's perfect to you, than it is!
Sometimes I wish I had more pond than one. And my river is all funky.
I made my save file before I got an account on here, so I didn't know much about AC when I did.
I got really lucky with my town map for being a n00b, it could be a lot worse. Lol

I don't like it. I definitely wouldn't have picked it but this is all purely opinion.

ONLY you can decide if a layout suits you. If that cat on the train showed me that map, it would have been instantly rejected. Everybody has different tastes, so don't take this as a personal attack.

That actually looks perfect. Nothing is too far off but the buildings are also far enough apart to where they don't look crowded. If you know what I mean. I dislike the split beaches like that, but I mean, who am I to talk. Mine are like that too. When I made my town, I didn't realize they were like that but I was too exicted to be playing the game to worry about them. Lol!
