Is there a specific way to get villagers to talk to each other?

This is something I've been wondering for a while. My villagers always end up in the same places everyday and they practically have times when they are literally facing each other and walking into each other, and yet they won't start talking.

I've only caught my villagers talking to each other a few times, sometimes only once a week. But yesterday during Bunny Day, Flurry has talked to 3 different different villagers (I caught it only once with Bill) in less than an hour. I don't know how it happened that made her so talkative that day, so I'm wondering if maybe I did something to make it so.

You guys have any idea?

Once I got so frustrated from missing their chat 3 times!! Then I lock 2 villager together with digging lots of holes around them and force them to chat lol. But this will only end of with a small chat and they will walk away after that without triggering any emotion. But it still fun to see them talking =D

Like what snow have done, i trap all my villagers together. Especially when i have new villagers.
To let them get to know each other better

But how do you get them close enough to each to trap them together?

I can only ever trap one villager and I usually make them upset by pushing them too much. How do you get a bunch of them together aaaaaaaaa

Ugh yeah, I'd love to know how to get them to talk ...

I missed 2 convos in my town yesterday, I was really intrigued as to what ickle squirrel Sally had said to upset Julian so much, bah! In all my playing time I've only caught 2 pairs of villagers talking to each other .. the rest of the time they just walk into each other. Grr.

Will try the trapping them together method, force them to talk!

Leave enough space for them to walk.

How i push is every 3 to 4 steps i move away and come back and push again.

Or i use my 2nd character to push, if the villager emo as least it wont affect its relationship with my mayor.

I've only seen like 3 conversations since I got my game (like a year ago). I think lately there have been more that I missed.. (Jacques must be popular.. everyone's dressing like him and using his catchphrase q.q)

I remember in Wild World I could push any two villagers together and they'd almost always start talking xD
