I nearly forgot I pre-ordered the official companion guide, and got an email today about an estimated delivery date sometime in July.

I'm wondering, with all the information that's already out from those who already have the guide book in addition to all the data mining--would you still say it's worth waiting for my guide?
I don't really mind the wait or anything, I understand the situation and why it's so delayed. I'm just unsure of how much information is already public knowledge by this point because I don't know all the information it contains and just wanted some opinions!

not gonna lie i carry this book everywhere
it really helps me pick out what to wear for label, what villagers i want, what songs i need to get, what you need for all diys and way more
i love that snazzy book ☆

I think it's worth it for sure! There's so much info in there and using a physical guidebook reminds me of when we couldn't go on the internet to search for info on games haha :)

I think it's best to view the guide book as a collectible and just a neat cute thing to flip through. All the information you could want from it will be (or is already) online so it's all about if you want to own a cute book or not.

I would have personally gotten it just for the cute book factor, but life happened.

i've been thinking of getting it since its release, but haven't because of covid's long shipping times (i figured all the info i want on the game is online too, so it's okay). i'm still considering getting it because it's so thorough and cute, but also there's incorrect information in it now and also lots of events aren't mentioned (which isn't as big of a deal to me as the incorrect info, which could cause smol problems)

In my opinion - No.

The guide is nice if you want something physical and with cute pictures, otherwise all the information in it can be found online and in more detail. The guide also has some flat out wrong or misleading information in it.

Thank you everyone for the responses!

Oh man, there's incorrect info in it?? 😬

I like it. It gives me a bit of nostalgia as I used to buy official guidebooks for Pokemon and such. It's really big though, I wasn't expecting that.

It just depends if you care about having official physical copy or just information on the internet.

Also Future Press (the publisher) said they'll release a PDF about the latest updates that Nintendo releases.

I'm still waiting on my pre-order, lol. Hopefully someday it'll come...
The email said my estimated delivery date is July 4-July 20. Maybe it applies to your preorder as well?? 🤔

Oh nice! That's actually pretty good to know.

I forgot I had preordered it to. Saw it sitting on my doorstep a few weeks ago lol.

In my opinion? Not really. It’s cute and nice to have but you can easily find all of the information online.

My biggest issue is the constant updates make it out of date. By the time I got it it was already out of date because of said updates.

yeah ;; it's inevitable what with the constant updates with the game, but also there's just info that's wrong to begin with (like for example, it says that sending villagers mail increases friendship, while datamines have confirmed that mail actually has no impact on villager friendship)
it's still very cute though, and i still might buy it just to have it c:

I have it but use it more as a collector's item that I just display on my bookshelf.
I usually go for most of the information online - especially for stuff like the updates that are not included in the guide.
But I'd still highly recommend it if you're an avid fan of the franchise. It's a very neat-looking book and has a lot of detail.

Actually, even the Japanese guide tells you that writing letters increases intimacy, so it might be glitch that they don’t affect the friendship.

Yupp.. I'm pretty sure it's SUPPOSED to affect friendship positively, especially since the villagers write back and often send you gifts in the mail.
I believe it's something that will be patched.

Oh. As for the actual question if its worth it, I think it it’s good for getting to know the basics, but due Nintendo patching and updating the game often some of the information will be outdated.

It doesn’t cover events like Bunny Day, May Day, Wedding event or hoW to spot fake art from Redd as these were quite recent additions. So to summarize, if you just got started, the book might be useful but otherwise I suggest internet as that updates frequently and is up to date.

This is the biggest drawback.

I was so excited when I first ordered it back in February because I've gotten all the guides in the past (Wild World, New Leaf). Always enjoyed having the physical database to flip through and check off when I got a new item or donated something to the museum.

If you're a collector, it's a great add to your collection. It's a high-quality book (nice finishes, photos, and a great way to have a lot of information in one spot). It comes with two bookmarks with a QR code to an online calendar too. Haven't accessed this yet but it's a nice addition.

I am happy to see others report an online version of the entire guide will be coming soon. :)

I hope so. But I wonder if Nintendo is even aware of it as the glitch was found on the datamine. As you said, they send mail and gifts and I wouldn’t even notice that there is glitch as it is not noticiable as say, villagers having wrong items in their houses.

I would say keep the order if you like the art of Animal Crossing. With the constant changes and updates, I wouldn't say its 1000% worth the price for the information inside. Its up to you in the end but if it were me, I would most likely not continue my preorder.

I bought it and it’s kinda cool but I wish it had come out on release day as opposed to, like... a month after the game’s release. By the time I received it, the guide was at least 80% useless to me.

But hey, it does have some very pretty illustrations.
