^Shipping is when you like to see two characters together romantically and so you "ship" them. It's in every fandom.

Personally I don't ship with AC but I don't judge anyone who does. It's not a big deal.

I think it isnt bad BUT sexualization of it bothers me so much, in the same vein as when pokemon get sexualized.
I think just as long as its not that way then its totally fine by me.

Also whats with the sudden influx of shipping posts? This is like the fourth one lol its rather funny

I don't see anything wrong with shipping the villagers. I personally do. It adds variety to the game, not to mention it's also hilariously ironic when other villagers talk about those you ship together lol

Yes, I ship villager relationships and I think it's absolutely freaking absurd that anyone should have a problem with it.

it doesn't matter. i don't really care as long as you're not being gross, but even if you are i'll just ignore you and move on.

do i do it? no.
but honestly, the game even sort of hints at it. if you've ever gotten dialogue like " x villager and x villager are really cute, too bad they're not a couple. . . yet." (paraphrasing). i've had diana say this to me multiple times, and julian i believe.

Based on what you guys are saying, some people take it to a sexual level that is...not appealing to me in the context of this game.

When I think of shipping in ACNL, it's all pretty innocent and in keeping with the game itself. Like Disney couples. You could look at it different ways, but I think most of us don't think of Cinderella and Prince Charming getting it on. XD Um, yeah that would be odd. lol

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. They are animals but they're human-like and "sentient", and the characters often joke about villagers being romantically involved. It would make me a little uncomfortable if people made it a sexual thing, though.

That's horrible. Who takes it to a sexual level? What kind of people would take innocent, cute and colorful animals and write erotic things about them?

The same people that sexualize any fictional character. How is sexualizing an ACNL villager any different from sexualizing a Ninja Turtle or Harry Potter character? Just because it's a fictional anthro character, that makes it wrong?

Have you guys considered the what if factors at all? I mean, look at TMNT. They are mutant, turtles. No one else like them exists in the entire world. So what if they fall in love with a human or what if a human falls in love with them? Is it wrong? Should they be kept apart? It's the same issue with ACNL, IMO. I mean, certainly, if a ninja turtle and human did fall in love or a villager and a human did fall in love, they could never have children, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't try to be happy together, does it?

The movie does too, with Apollo and Whitney.

I would personally want nothing to do with sexualized AC characters but I don't think people who like it should necessarily be bashed for it... I mean, there's plenty of stuff out there in fandoms you might think is weird or maybe it makes you uncomfortable. Just stay away from it if you don't like it and let the people who do enjoy it, it's that simple.

who even cares.

rule34 is always in effect, anyways. it exists, therefore...y'know. people will do stuff with it.

i think if someone's just like 'oh these two are super cute together', why would you even care. it's their thing.

But there aren't female TMNT, right? I mean if there were, then they should maybe date one another and leave humans out of it. IDK, this is getting into an X-Men type of discussion...there's probably a place for it in general, but most of us talking about shipping ACNL characters aren't thinking of them that way. Well, I can speak for myself personally.

Although do you guys remember that Bob video where he's a muscular guy? I can't post it atm cuz I'm at work. But you guys can search it on youtube. That was kind of funny but in a creepy uncomfortable way.

I don't necessarily ship villagers on a SEXUAL level. More so on a PLATONIC level.

The only female Ninja turtle that exists on any level in the fandom is their sister, Venus from the live-action TV show The Next Mutation, so you are essentially condoning insest. Then again, in fanfiction land it's also commonplace for the Turtles' love interest to, somehow, tragically mutate into a female turtle. But not even the Turtles would wish that on anyone.
And I fail to see how the topic is getting out of hand. I mean, it's a simple question really: If a villager and human believe they can be happy together, should they be together? I mean, if they live in a world where anthro villagers are commonplace and humans are a scarcity, then what about the humans' happiness? You have to ask yourself, if I were living in their world, what would make me happiest -- being alone or being with a villager or waiting for another human to come along?

I'm not really that familiar with TMNT, other than the old cartoon or whatever. I know there was a human girl in it, April or something, and I'm sure they flirted with her...I really shouldn't be talking since i don't remember it.

But anyway...yeah, it's not weird if you keep the game separate from real life. Because then you can have "suspension of disbelief" and ship all kinds of people and characters and it's not creepy. But if you start making it TOO real, then it's hard for people to get around the mental obstacles, and it takes you out of the story, to a place where you start asking questions of morality and that's really no fun.

Yeah, see, that's my thing. It isn't real. The characters are fictional and anthros don't exist IRL, so how can it possibly be wrong?

I don't think there's any right answer to this question. Animal Crossing is a game where you can use your imagination if you want to, or just take the game at face value, because everyone has their own way of playing. I know tons of people who make up little stories for themselves and their animals, and since we all have varying types of relationships it is only natural to apply them to games such as this.

I don't have any problem with it ethically or morally since the animal villagers are all sentient beings capable of making decisions for themselves and openly communicating those decisions. If someone wanted to ship their mayor with one of the animals, hey, why not? As long as they aren't gross or obnoxious about it I see nothing wrong with it.
