i'm not entirely sure if this is in the right section, but i just had a quick question to ask. i haven't played animal crossing in probably 5 months and my town is in, like, ruins. i didn't work that hard on the town because i had no idea what i was supposed to do or look for in a nice town when i started but i want another chance to make a pretty town without buying another game. the main reason i'm on the fence about restarting my town is that i have a lot of items, clothes, and tools, and i'm worried that i might get bored of repeating the gameplay. is restarting really worth it?????????? things i don't mind and/or are looking forward to is having new villagers and a new town set up, a new mayor and stuff like that.

I don't think it's that hard to rehab your town, so if you're worried, don't restart.

You can just cycle out your current villagers.

It definitely is tedious starting from the beginning! I never restarted, but I do have two towns, and when I got my new one, I was a bit irritated with having to redo the approval rating thing and whatnot. At first, it also didn't feel like "my" town or "my" mayor, but now I love it to death and am proud of what it's becoming.
This time around, I knew that I should restart for a map I like, and I learned how to plot reset my villagers and to plan PWPs more carefully! That alone is worth it since you didn't know these things at first (I sure didn't! :/)

If you can find somebody to hold your things for you, I would say that it's 100% worth it to restart your town. :)

If you don't mind me asking, why is it that you're not interested in having another copy of the game? I'm just wondering! :)

Agreed 100% with the person above.
Finding someone to hold your items shouldn't be hard, since there are many kind and trustworthy people here to help with your items!

I restarted my first town forever ago. I hated how my town turned out, and just wasn't happy with it at all. But you if you do restart, it helps a ton to know what to do, and how to fix things, etc!

I personally am glad I restarted. It was annoying to get Gracie, to unlock pwps, and get perfect town again, but I preffered my new town over my first.
I plan to get a second copy to work on a new town, so I can see which likes best.

Just weigh the positives and negatives. If you have certain villagers, or certain small things, that might alter your want to change towns. But sometimes I think it's worth it.

IDK, in my opinion, maybe try fixing up your current town and only reset if you really can't make anything good out of your old town, if you are that worried about losing your progress.

I personally have never restarted my town, but I really like my town map and native fruit. Plus I really like earning badges and I'd hate to lose all the progress I've made. If you like your town map and native fruit, it might be best just to make it work. If you'd like a different town map or native fruit, then you might consider it. You can get all your items back, or even have someone from the forum hold your stuff for you while you restart.

Everytime i restart, i find it tedious to get through the first couple of days. I usually just turn the game off but end up picking it up the next day.

I think it's worth it, I actually restarted my own town on the 13th, I just detested the layout and I had no motivation to do anything to it. While it quite tedious to revert back to the beginning, I'm much happier with my new town and willing to do what I have to. If restarting means that much to you, go for it. It's easy to find someone to hold your items for you, and cycling threads can be of service when looking for villagers.

I have restarted 3 times. I finally have Kyoshi the way I want it. Now I am on my second town so I have two and I am in absolutely love with it. I am almost done with Kyoshi so while I am bored of doing the last finishing touches I can always go to my other town cause I have more stuff to do there. It just depends on the person. I love this game and always have been a fan of how many things you are able to do I like to keep busy.

wOw there are a lot of replies haha. thanks everyone for replying!! i decided to restart my town. i didn't have anyone hold my items because i sort of felt like i would get bored quickly if i had everything right from the beginning. idk. maybe it was a smart decision, maybe it wasn't, but i've time-travelled to get past the stupid first days. and a villager i got was tia!!!! i love her (:

From what you've said, maybe working on your current town would be the better option? Just because items and collections are so time consuming. If I lost my town, I wouldn't start again with another new one. Would be too disheartening.
Maybe try to work with what you have, check it dream towns to get inspiration. In my opinion it's certainly easier to fix a town than start from scratch
Good luck

Had my original game cart stolen while overseas so I was forced to restart. It was devastating at the time, having put in 500~ hours into my town and losing countless hybrids. Honestly though, I've reached a point where I'm overall much happier with how my town turned out. Helps I fully understood the mechanics of the game the second time around and knew what I wanted out of a map. It took a lot of work to get here but it definitely gave the game a breath of fresh air.

My old town still exists as a dream address, forever in a eternal sunset with the 5PM theme playing. Wouldn't have had it end any other way.
