Is new horizons worth the price?

Yes it is, and I don't really understand what people did in NL and can't do in NH that was so vital to their enjoyment. The only thing I really want back is tortimer island to play online with friends, but I don't think that not being able to get coffee or get your fortune told is that important lol
Please explain it to me cause I don't get it yet.

I bought a Switch especially for this game. 3 months in I have 500 hours played (more than NL over a few years) and I still play every day, even if it's not for hours like I first did. Totally worth it to me. However, I will say that villager interaction is probably my lowest priority in the game (I much prefer collecting/trading, crafting, and decorating) so I don't have a lot of the same complaints others do.

I don't mind the update model because I don't feel any need to continuously play: if I get burned out or bored I can just put the game down and play a different one or explore some other hobbies until something that interests me is added.

Yep, definitely worth the price. They'll be giving more downloadable content here soon and will be for possibly the next few years, so I believe there will always be something new to do in it. I know I will be playing it for years to come.

Honestly I don't think so.

I don't think it was worth the same price as something like smash bros or breath of the wild. $60 is a lot of money...and I didn't think I would spend it on something like a decorating simulator.

I think its worth it. If you know you'll put in a lot of hours, it will pay itself out. I'm near 400 hours so thats about $6 an hour there. If you're unsure or thinking maybe you won't play long, but maybe its not worth it. Pretty much its up to what you want to do with the game.

I answered not sure, because there are a lot of variables that change the way we enjoy a game.

Here are some things I think you might want to consider:

• Play time: How much time do you envision spending on the game? Is it a game you could spend hundreds of hours on? If so, as unfinished as the game is, if you could see yourself having fun for a while, I think the game will be worth it!
  • Do you have much free time? If you buy the system and you don't have too much time to play - like if you're in school for example, you might not be able to maximize your play time.
  • Do you think the game looks fun? I think that question is pretty self-explanatory, but if you feel the game looks incomplete from what you see, maybe it's best to wait for new updates.
• Other Switch titles: Are there any other games on the Switch you would like to play? If so, that would make the Switch much more worth it. However, if you're not sure about what other games you might like, maybe it's best to wait and see what new updates are coming to the game before you decide.
• Financial situation: Can you afford to get the game and a Switch right now? Or might that money better be used elsewhere? The game/system will be here for a while to come, so you don't have to buy it immediately.

For me, I spent a couple hundred hours on the game already and I have time to spare right now. I am holding out hope for a Style Savvy switch game, so I would need the system for that. The Switch was a bit expensive but I saw it as a good birthday present and investment to keep my spirits up during quarantine. Even if the game is incomplete to me, I still have fun playing it!

You should look into other games as well, rather than getting it for solely NH. Though yea, I think it's worth the price, I've gotten 400+ hours out of it, my playstyle is generally relax and letting non-permanent villagers come and go, 400+ hours in a game that doesn't have everything planned for it already in is pretty good. What I love compared to NL is the flexibility that we didn't have. Being able to choose where to put building and rocks is a feature that was really needed in NL. NH definitely doesn't stresses me out as much as NL did. Though I do miss a few key things like gyroids, Brewster, and the minigames. It's really depended on how you play and what your ingame priorities are. You can always wait till more updates are rolled out, we have about 3 years worth to expect. If you do end up getting a Switch, you can even rent NH for a few days/weeks to see how you feel about it early on, the save isn't on the cartridge but the system itself, so you'll still have your island if you buy the game. In the meantime, there's plenty of great games that you can play, AAA and indies.

Also a little tip for getting online: they have a family plan that you can use to lessen the cost, if you have a group of family or friends or even friends of a friend that all have a Switch, you can all share a plan and pitch in a couple of bucks so every one of you can get Nintendo Online.

Depends on your playstyle, if you think you would enjoy creating your town bottom up, its worth it! you can make such cool and pretty towns and a bunch of neat places you can make and the villagers don't move out on their own which is amazing! if you don't think you would enjoy all the work involved, then it might not be your game, the villager dialog isn't that great, there is a meh amount of furniture to furnish your home with, there are quite a few neat sets but its not tons and tons... the graphics are amazing though and there still is a bunch of fun stuff to do and especially with friends!

It definitely is. But, it's also an unfinished game at the moment. And honestly, I don't think it will ever have the same amount of content (items) as NL, but on the other hand, it also has things that NL didn't have.

If you have the money, i say get it.

Even if it isn't fully available in terms of events, I do think that this game has plenty of enjoyable content for 200+ hours of creative play. You will be pretty darn entertained I think for 60 dollars and with more content coming, there should be more hours of playtime available soon

I bought a switch lite just for Animal Crossing so my answer is yes. If you play it a regular amount I don't imagine you'll get bored. I think it needs an update but most people (including me) were stuck in quarantine for 2 months and played the game like crazy since there was no work or school.

Well, this is awkward... I’m the only one who said “no”, but here me out, let me explain.

The game does lack content as of now, since Nintendo will be providing us with new content every now and then, but seriously? $60 for an unfinished game? You might as well get Pocket Camp with all of the updates and everything. Every other AC game was completed and chock-full of villagers with actual life & personality, diverse furniture sets, and various activities like Club Tortimer in New Leaf.
Sure, I think that terraforming is a huge step up for the AC franchise and the graphics are stunning and the most visually appealing out of any other game, but... it just lacks content. I’m just going to wait for more updates to release before I get back into it because to me, it just feels like a preview of an unfinished game.
(I’m not trying to bash the game in any way, this is just my opinion and I do plan on playing it sometime later when more updates come out)
So, I think that the game is worth it when more updates come out, I just would rather play the game to it’s full potential than just playing it as a demo.
I have a theme set in mind, and I personally would find it exhausting to constantly replace my furniture, terraform, and everything else.
New Horizons can be good, but as of now, it will never be like previous titles, which is okay. I just hope that Nintendo will make it better than before in its own unique way.

I'm sure it's been said, but the only reason people may be tired of AC:NH, or think it isn't worth it is because they've simply had too much time to play. I'm over 600 hours, and would probably only be at 200 if not for this worldwide pandemic.

I'm also not tired of the game yet, and feel it is totally worth it.

I've got like 350 hours on NH so far, and there is still so much I'd like to do. This game isn't going to be for everyone, but if you already know that you're a fan of the series then I think you'll get a lot out of it

“Worth the price” is a hard thing to say because that’s the average of all games on Nintendo and ps4 (when new) but the thing with Nintendo is I never see price changes :/ which sucks. However out of all the Nintendo games I do play ACNH more than all other games combined

Yeah unless there is like a huge sale 3 year old games still go for 60-70 bucks it's like...digital also no thanks
