Is 3 normals too much?

I feel like I wrote this post because I love the designs of normal villagers the most and have the most memories with them, but they are probably the most bland personality.

I only planned on having just one normal in NH, but ended up with two. At the end of the day, you're the one who interacts with them every day and if they make you happy, then that's what matters. It's so hard to let villagers go though!

Huh? My normals talk about baking and reading, and are super insecure in a cute way
Really? Mine either about what I have been doing the day before, either planting flowers or finding fossils or about how nice is the weather on a certain day. It gets sooo boring after a bit!

All my villagers talk about what I was doing the previous day, so I don’t think it’s a Normal thing. Are you building a regular relationship with your Normals? I have two (and at one point had four at once!) and their dialogue is as varied as any other character type. Even when they occasionally get similar prompts (Like the “small talk” convo with Peppies), their answers are different, even from the same character

I was never really fussy about what personality type I had in my town before NH, but the dialogue really bothers me now. I just feel like the normal personality is so bland and gets repetitive so quickly. It’s a shame because most of the characters are so cute, and my dreamie (maple) is of that personality too!

I’ll probably be branching out to find other personality types in this game (which I think the game suggests that anyways - starting with uchi/jock and forcing a smug campsite villager on you), so I’m not really too fussed about missing out on my dreamies (since most of them are normal anyway!)

I think I've discovered that my personality limit is two

I have two normals and while their dialog overlaps, they talk about and do different things so it doesn't bother me so much.

Normal villagers do tend to be the cutest. If I ran into Molly again, I would probably bring her to my island in a heartbeat, despite having two other normals in my village at the moment.

Molly is the newest addition so my relationship with her is still very fresh but I had Fauna for over 3 weeks now and it is always the same two things! 😣

That’s weird, because Fauna is one of my two permanent Normals! Wonder why she’s not branching out for you?

I have 2 normals and I plan to have 2 cranky villagers. I don't really think it's too much. I actually really like the normal villagers I have, Poppy and Fauna. I think they are really sweet to have around! I considered only having one, but I ended up wanting to keep both of them.

I have the same problem, normals are my absolute favorite because of how cute all the villagers are, but speaking as someone who had 4 normals on their island at the same time, it does get boring unfortunately :(
but I honestly think it's that way with any personality type, I had 3 smugs and started to get bored of them before as well

Also wdym slight variants? Like there are subtypes to each personality...?

i recall seeing a post on the forums with a snippet from the guide talking about sub types. i tried searching for it - couldn't find it, but this came up instead. it doesn't appear to be as interesting/significant as i thought it would be LOL the only same personality types i have currently are fang, chief, and wolfgang (game rng gave me lotta cranky wolf boys lol), and they seem pretty similar. i'd be curious to see how it differs with other personalities.

There are a lot of cute normals I personally feel. If its to much is up to you and how you want to play. Do you want all personality types? If so, does 3 normals stand in the way of having certain other favourite villagers? Thats a choice only you can make. But generally speaking if thats what you want its never to much.

i have fauna, marina, & maple and couldn’t decide who i’m keeping.... in fact i’m even considering kicking out another personality in place of a smug lol. so no, i don’t mind them but it comes down to personal preference. they are a bit boring, but at least their dialogue is not too specific like that jocks that you’d go crazy having 3 of them!

i planned having 1 (lolly) and ended up having 3, and lolly amiibo isn’t even scanned in yet lol. a lot of normal’s have lovely design, i’ll tell you that. (the opposite of uchi ugh)

For me? Yes. I don't think I would ever be able to handle 3 normals in my town. At the beginning, I had Merengue, Maple, and Fauna and it was way too much. I had just found them on NMT islands and were cute so I took them. I think I could only have one of that personality in my town at one time. Although now that Goldie is living on my town, I think she's probably going to be a permanent resident. She is so cute. But I get this dilemma because I love cranky villagers and had Roscoe, Chief, and Lobo in my town at once. It made me happy so I didn't care. I got Roscoe's picture from him so I let him leave when he asked me to move even though I really love him. So maybe that's a good solution? Get their photo and let them move on? If you're happy though, stick with villagers that make you happy--if you feel like it's too much, let one go!

i feel like if you love them enough you should just keep them. if you have other personality doubles right now it may be making the dialogue feel REALLY repetitive but if you have one of each personality at least, then there's two extra slots for your normals if you decide it isn't quite repetitive, so you'd have a variety of dialogue amongst your other villagers + the cuteness of your villagers!
