Interested in hearing from people who want one specific native fruit

I chose Cherries for purely sentimental reasons. Cherries were my native fruit back in the GC game. I’ve had every fruit but pears as a native before.
GC - Cherries
WW - Peaches
CF - Apples
NL - Oranges
NH - Cherries again
I just thought it would be a nice call back. Maybe I’ll make pears my native someday, just to complete them all, but honestly, I’ve never tasted a pear before in my whole life. It usually doesn’t bother me anyways, I make my bank off of fish and bugs, never relied much on the fruit.

orange is my favourite colour, and it feels really special to have that reflected on my passport! c’: planting a bunch of orange trees while knowing that my native fruit is something else just wouldn’t be the same to me; it seems ridiculous, but i’d always have that nagging feeling. i don’t even have any other fruit trees on my island because i like orange so much~

I never go for a specific fruit because I just think there's more important stuff to go for, but I'm very grateful that I got apples because they just feel like a the "default" fruit that you can't go wrong with. I'll admit I would probably die if I got stuck with oranges (sorry orange crew)

BUT I am sooooo thankful the native flower doesn't show up on your passport. it would eat away at my heart seeing lilies instead of windflowers every time. luckily there's not even any way to tell what your native flower is after the first couple of days of the game.

apart from using perfect fruit, I've never sold non-native fruit for a profit lol so that didn't even occur to me. I guess it's just nice to know that your island checks every box, which includes the fruit!

Well, I was sure I didn't want oranges, because it was my native in NL (back then I was just really really new (literally) to the game, I got oranges and was disappointed because it's not a fruit I especially enjoyed irl :p)
I reset for apples since they're my fave fruit in all five (with cherry just behind) :3 I just like how there's so many different dishes you can use apples in, and I also just like their taste. x)

And I'm very glad I reset for apples, because:
- I still managed to get the villager Cherry as a starter :D
- The cherry trees I planted by her house feel more special since they're not the native fruit
- Your native fruit shows up on your passport! Glad I've got a fruit I like on there.

It's just the fruit that represents you and your island, you know. It's a little bit of everything. Peaches are pink which is my favorite color, which looks the prettiest to me on the passport. I prefer the Peach furniture and prefer my starter lazy to have them. I want my island be filled with trees of peaches because I think they look the nicest. I like that my villagers are drinking peach tea/juice because I love peach iced tea so much.

Now I want peach as my natives

I initially really wanted peaches or pears as they're my favourite fruits, but while resetting I had too many other things to consider and I decided that native fruits weren't important, as it's not like I really dislike any of them, and I could get them all in the end. Plus, bonus, now the more peach/pear tree I have on my island, the more money I make!

It'd be nice if they could start drinking different drinks as we get all the fruits hehe

I'm one of the unlucky ones who got pears (literally the only fruit I did not want lol) but looking back I'm kind of glad I did! This now gives me an excuse to have practically no pear trees because they don't bring that much $$$ anyway. Maybe I'll prefer the look of them in later seasons when there's not so much green, but for now, I have minimal pear trees.

I would understand if we had the ability to have perfect fruit like in new leaf, but really,, what is the point? i dont think there is a better fruit? theyre all the same

Honestly, to me it doesn’t matter at all and I’m not sure why it does to anyone anymore. I care in New Leaf because certain perfect fruits are preferable over others to me, but that was taken out. I can see going for a certain native fruit if you’re expecting perfect fruit to come back but since we have no idea if it will or not, I didn’t bother. I ended up with the fruit that best fits my island’s aesthetic anyway though lol.

I wanted peaches because they’re my favorite fruit IRL. I also love how the peaches look in this game. The size of the fruit is perfect (I find cherries too small) and the color of the fruit is lovely (pink with a bit of golden yellow at the bottom) since it never blends with the tree leaves no matter the season (red fruits lose contrast with the tree sometime in autumn and the pears lose contrast with the tree pretty much all year). Also, believe it or not, I don’t shake fruit trees except maybe the first 2-3 in-game days. I like seeing my peach trees everywhere and I love that it’s what’s shown in my passport.

I think the pears look way better in NH than in any previous versions. I didn't really care which native fruit I got, but I got apples and I love apples. So it worked out.

Honestly, the pears look the best and, surprising, the peaches to worst to my eyes. Which is funny considering everyone had the exact opposite opinion before the game came out.

As of right now though native fruit doesn't really mean much. Maybe they'll add the perfect fruit back but otherwise, it doesn't really make a difference.

i like all the fruits but i think apples are actually my least favorite because i never decorate with red so it feels like it sticks out too much in my happy pastel town. weirdly i do like cherries but maybe that’s just because i think cherries are a cute fruit so i don’t mind them sticking out. oranges are my second least favorite because orange isn’t a color i really care about and they’re sort of boring and round like the apples. but i like them more because oranges are so yummy and refreshing and they make me feel like it’s a tropical island!

peaches are my favorite because they’re pink and soft and i felt quite lucky that i got them on the first island i actually flew to after restarting once for new map choices.

i think pears are really cute too! idk why people hate them so much lmao. i like that they’re green and different than the other fruits. plus pears are so yummy irl. i think pears are the most quirky native fruit to have :3

all that said i don’t actually care that much what my native fruit is because i can just plant the ones i like. i have a little grove of all the fruits in my forest and i also planted some in my villagers’ backyards to match them. the only fruit that i would reset if i got them are probably apples but if i liked my starters and all the other things about an island i’d likely just keep them.

Pears are actually one of my favorite fruits in real life, but I dislike how they look in game. Apples are my favorite fruit in the game because when they’re perfect(in New Leaf at least), they look like candy apples, which are my favorite in real life. When I lived in Florida, I’d drive almost an hour to Disneyland just to buy their candy apples; they’re delicious

I didn't reset for my island at all, I just took one of the first 4 maps I got and stuck with it and it was pears. Sure, I might've preferred oranges because oranges might just be my favorite food in general, but when I realized I could make the pun "Es-pear-a" I had zero regrets going forward.

I'm proud to have pears as my native fruit, and when I hear normal villagers talking about making stuff like pear pie I'm genuinely interested because I've never heard of, seen or tasted a pear pie and it could be delicious for all I know. I can also use as many of them as I need for construction/landscaping work without feeling like I'm throwing away money. I do have an orchard with 10 trees of every foreign fruit, which nets me 60k bells every three days. Ngl I like how the peaches look, but then I'd feel bad using them as fuel if they were my native, because I'd have to keep removing them from my trees.

Also have you ever had sparkling pear juice? Hands down the best beverage I have ever consumed.

I actually reset to make sure I got my preferred fruit - pears. I always feel like one of the odd ones for liking pears the most, they seem to be the least popular. They were my favorite in New Leaf because the perfect pears looked golden. I kept that fondness into New Horizons despite the lack of perfect fruit at this time.
I didn't want peaches because they looked like baby butts (allow me to be childish sometimes, ehehe). My husband had apples in his town, so I wanted to make sure I had something different so we could sell in each other's towns. I never preferred oranges because their perfect fruit version just looked like a misshapen version of of the normal fruit. That left pears or cherries for me! I would have been perfectly happy with either of those in my New Horizons town and pears happened to be on the island that met all of my other requirements, so here I am~
